Daniil Medvedev is No.1 on Elo rating
Elo is a superior rating system to the ranking formulas used by the ATP and WTA. The principle behind any Elo system is that each player’s rating is an estimate of their strength, and each match or tournament allows us to update that estimate. If a player wins, his/her rating goes up; if he/she loses, it goes down.
Which means, the higher the Elo rating, the tougher it is to beat that player. Daniil Medvedev has the highest Elo rating of 2127. Which means he is the toughest player to beat. At second position is Novak Djokovic with a Elo rating of 2123 and third is Rafael Nadal at 2106.
The more interesting bit is that the overall Elo is different from the Surface wise Elo. Which means Rafael Nadal, who is the toughest to beat on clay, has the highest Elo rating of 2052 on clay. Medvedev has the highest Elo rating on hard courts which stands at 2059. Novak Djokovic has the highest Elo on grass courts which is 1913.
