The latest episode of Dynamite featured a Blood & Guts match between Team AEW and Team Elite. The latter team was comprised of The Young Bucks, Jack Perry, Kazuchika Okada, and ‘Hangman’ Adam Page. Their competitors for the match were Swerve Strickland, Darby Allin, Mark Briscoe, and The Acclaimed.
During the match, Team AEW tied Jack Perry to the cage with handcuffs. The AEW TNT champion refused to quit after multiple kendo shots and an unprotected chair shot to the head. This led to Allin losing it. He grabbed some gasoline, poured it all over the 27-year-old, and threatened to set him on fire on live TV. Surprisingly, he still did not yield.
However, Matt Jackson of The Young Bucks could not see something like that happen to his teammate. He quit the match on behalf of Team Elite. Furthermore, he also granted an AEW TNT Championship title shot to Allin at All In London against Perry.
Darby Allin has won the AEW TNT Championship twice during his career. He holds the record for the longest reign, holding it for 186 days for the first time. The 31-year-old also holds the record for the longest cumulative reign spread across both his runs with the belt. He has also put on incredible matches for the championship, most recently against Christian Cage at WrestleDream. Unfortunately, he was unable to capture the title for the third time in October.
Wrestling fans go ballistic as Darby Allin threatens to burn Jack Perry on live TV and makes Team Elite quit
The latest Blood & Guts match featured a surprising and creative ending to the match. The ending shifted away from what is traditionally seen as a victory for the good guys. The babyface was even willing to burn someone alive and commit murder on live TV. The match was action-packed throughout. However, some fans may have found the ending a little anti-climactic.
Fans were happy to see Allin finally get his revenge on Team Elite. He faced the heel faction at Double or Nothing in an Anarchy in the Arena match. His dedication to facing off against the team was so severe that he returned to professional wrestling only three weeks after being hit by a bus.
Netizens also pointed out the change in Allin’s character in AEW. He used to be a white-bred babyface over the past few years. However, he has gotten much more sadistic towards his opponents and does not tolerate any nonsense.
