“Don’t think this is just any fluke,” Darius Garland reminds fans about Cleveland Cavaliers being ‘real deal’ this season
Cleveland Cavaliers guard Darius Garland revealed his feelings about the expectations of his team as they continue their 11-game win streak.
Darius Garland reacts to Cavs win streak
The Cleveland Cavaliers are the team to watch in the 2024-25 NBA season. The Cavs have begun the campaign with a perfect 11-0 record. They seem to be the team to beat after handing out losses to anyone in their path.
After a week that saw them thrash the Golden State Warriors, Cavs star guard Darius Garland addressed the team’s expectations this season. Garland, along with fellow all-star guard Donovan Mitchell, has formed one of the deadliest backcourts in basketball.
The two have led the Cavs on the scoring front, with their frontcourt of Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley handling business on the defensive end of the floor. As the team goes from one strength to another, Garland addressed questions about whether the Cavs have a deep playoff run in them.

Darius Garland said that he doesn’t feel like the Cavaliers’ season so far is a fluke. Given the strength of their opponents so far, he feels that the Cavs have a chance to make a mark in the playoffs and become title contenders.
Over the course of their 11-game win streak, the Cavaliers have faced the likes of Milwaukee Bucks, Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks, and the Golden State Warriors. All of these teams are formidable opponents who handily lost to the Cavaliers.
Darius Garland reveals reason for the big comeback this season
Darius Garland has been one of the standout guards in the league this year. Donovan Mitchell and Garland are both making compelling cases to be two of the top guards in the Eastern Conference. Garland’s return to form is a big factor this season, as the 24-year-old is coming off a down year.
Many saw it fit for the Cavs to trade Garland, although the team still stuck with their star guard. In a recent interview, Garland revealed that he had ‘lost the joy for basketball’ due to the injuries that nagged him last season.
Garland had suffered a broken jaw in December last season, which forced him to miss several games. The dynamic guard even lost 12 pounds due to a strict liquid diet owing to his jaw being wired shut.
Many fans were detractors of his performance last season, yet Garland’s struggles with adversity only strengthened him for this season. The Cavaliers now sit atop the league with their core four finally healthy again.
