Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels has risen in the ranks after his stellar performance against the Cincinnati Bengals on MNF in Ohio. As a rookie drafted second overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, Daniels has proved to be an asset for the Commanders’ side pretty quickly.

The Washington Commanders are leading the NFC East ahead of the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys, two Super Bowl contenders. After the Week 1 loss, the Commanders bounced back up to defeat the New York Giants in a game won by just field goals, courtesy of Austin Seibert. Seibert, who was named the NFC special teams player of the week, produced an impressive 7-on-7 performance.

On Monday, it was their quarterback who delivered like a quarterback should. Daniels bested the franchise record and rookie record for the highest pass completion rate with 91.3%. He also became the second quarterback to throw for at least 300 yards and three touchdowns this season after Andy Dalton.

Speaking on Up & Adams hosted by Kay Adams, Las Vegas Raiders WR Davante Adams praised the 23-year-old Daniels for his amazing performance. The Raiders, who are trailing 1-2 after a poor start to the season, had a rollercoaster week with confusion regarding their Week 4 starting quarterback.

I mean, he won the Heisman for a reason. He’s a special player. We were hoping that maybe all the teams didn’t think so and he could slip down to the Raiders a little while ago. But he’s out there doing his thing.

The Las Vegas Raiders drafted 13th, 11 positions after Daniels’ draft position. The Raiders missed out on Daniels, Malik Nabers, and Bo Nix for picks ahead of them. They eventually settled with two-time John Mackey award winner and tight-end Brock Bowers. Nevertheless, Bowers has been showing up for the team, even winning praise from his role model Rob Gronkowski.

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback woes continue

Las Vegas Raiders announced that they are sticking with Gardner Minshew II for Week 4 despite Aidan O’Connell substituting him last week against the Carolina Panthers. Later, Antonio Pierce said that his team has been faltering with players making business decisions of their own. He even expressed anger on the players quitting on themselves during the humiliating loss.

However, that didn’t go as planned as the Raiders plummeted to a double digit loss to a team that everyone thought they could have bested. The change in the field mid-game has led fans to believe that Minshew might not be their starting quarterback for the whole season.

In addition, Davante Adams’ statement might point out that despite signing Minshew II in March, the Raiders were looking forward to pick Daniels, notifying a non-committal.

The 2023 fourth round pick Aidan O’Connell started 11 games for the Raiders with the best game coming against division rivals, Kansas City Chiefs on Christmas Day. It is highly possible he could come back to starting position sooner than expected. The Raiders play Cleveland Browns in Week 4 looking to bounce back.
