Davante Adams, the new Los Angeles Rams wide receiver, did not mince his words when discussing Travis Hunter’s potential as a dual-threat athlete in the NFL. Adams remains a big skeptic about Hunter’s aspirations.
In a recent sit-down with Channing Cowder on the Pivot podcast, Adams had some strong words.
I don’t even think it’s possible to do, for real, not at a high level. It’s hard enough to go cover a punt and then be on one side of it… That’s just a lot of mileage, man.
From Adams’ point of view, sharing snaps on both offense and defense increases the chance of an injury. Admas wants Hunter to play his best football for the Jacksonville Jaguars. However, he also mentioned that the rookie has to play against players such as Derrick Henry, who hits like a freight train.
It’s already a 100% injury guarantee. Once you get out there playing both sides, now you have to tackle, you gotta tackle Derrick Henry with that frame… That’s a lot of football to play.

Naturally, fans who want to see Hunter emulating his college heroics in the NFL weren’t pleased with Adams’ words. Bleacher Report posted a tweet (now deleted) that portrayed the All-Pro receiver in a bad light. Adams, who prefers to stay away from social media, had no other option but to respond before the situation escalated further.
Most click batey quote all time… I haven’t even tweeted in like 100 years but this had to be said lol watch the episode man smh.

Adams signed for the Rams after spending half a season in the Big Apple with the New York Jets. He thanked head coach Sean McVay for bringing him to LA.
It was a uniform feeling about [Sean McVay] across the board. I don’t know if I’ve ever come across another person where it was that type of uniformity in relation to how they deal with people.

Davante Adams has found himself in a tricky quarterback situation with the Rams
Matthew Stafford agreed to remain with the Rams even though he was drawing interest from the Giants and the Steelers in the offseason. After general manager Les Snead made some adjustments to Stafford’s contract, he decided to stay for the 2025 season.

However, earlier this week, the Rams’ medical team announced that Stafford, 37, aggravated a disc in his back and will miss the start of the new season. This dampened the mood in LA.

Fortunately, Snead did his homework early by extending Jimmy Garoppolo’s contract. With Stafford decommissioned, Jimmy G received the nod to be the starter in the preseason and the start of the 2025 season.
Garoppolo has a history with Adams. Both were part of Josh McDaniels’ Las Vegas Raiders in 2023. Adams had a falling out with the veteran quarterback after he failed to connect with him on several occasions during games. Fans worried whether the animosity carried over to LA until Adams cleared the air.
I love Jimmy. It was never a personal thing … that was just a dark moment in all of our lives. I think all of us were pretty miserable over there.

Even though Garoppolo has taken reps with the first-team players in recent days of the training camp, McVay has faith that Stafford will be ready for week one of the regular season, according to the Daily Mail. The Rams welcome the Houston Texans on day one.
