Davante Adams capped off the Los Angeles Rams’ week 12 win over the Buccaneers with 5 receptions on 8 targets for 62 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Rams became the first NFC team to record 9 wins this season to establish themselves as the favorites to secure the number one seed.
Adams hasn’t been in a similar situation since 2021 in Green Bay. The main driving force behind the Rams’ success is veteran Matthew Stafford, who is playing the quarterback position better than anyone else at the moment.
Stafford’s 30 touchdowns to just 2 interceptions lead the league. He hasn’t thrown a pick since Week 2, and from then through Week 12, he’s racked up a league-high 25 passing touchdowns.
Adams has looked like his absolute best while receiving from Stafford this year. After 11 games, the 32-year-old’s stat sheet displays 48 receptions, 623 yards, and 12 touchdowns.
After Sunday’s game, Adams told the media that he is enjoying the Rams experience.
I am having the most fun playing that I’ve ever had.

Adams forced his way out of the Raiders to play with Aaron Rodgers in New York. He played seven games with the Super Bowl MVP, logging 854 yards and 7 touchdowns from 67 catches.
The Green Bay Packers drafted Adams in the second round of the 2014 NFL draft. He played seasons in Green Bay with Rodgers, racking up 669 catches for 8,121 yards and 73 touchdowns in 116 games.
2020 will go down as his best year statistically. That year, Adams caught 115 passes for 1374 yards and 18 touchdowns in 14 appearances.
Davante Adams claimed Matthew Stafford deserves to be the NFL MVP
The TD/INT ratio is only the tip of the iceberg of Stafford’s season. He ranks fifth with 2830 passing yards, from 248 pass completions, and boasts a passer rating of 113.7 while taking fewer sacks (15) than the four players ahead of him (Drake Maye, Patrick Mahomes, Dak Prescott, and Daniel Jones).

Stafford deservedly heard MVP chants inside the SoFi Stadium after dropping 273 yards and three touchdowns on the Bucs. When reporters looked for a reaction out of Adams, the Pro Bowler said (H/T: ESPN),
[Matthew Stafford’s] playing like the most valuable player in the league. You can see it in the numbers, the way he’s taking command of the huddle and the offense, the way he and Sean [McVay] put things together and work throughout the week together to put together a good product for us.
Ironically, Stafford nearly retired in the offseason while dealing with a bad back. There was also interest from teams across the league in his services. Eventually, the former number one overall pick opted to stay in LA by making a few tweaks to his Rams contract.
Stafford is in his 17th season in the league and his fifth wearing Rams colors. He began his career with the Detroit Lions and has since played in 233 games. According to ESPN data, Stafford hit a .500 win record in the week 10 win over the San Francisco 49ers. His record stands at 117-115-1.
Next week, the Rams travel to Carolina to play the 6-6 Carolina Panthers. From the six previous meetings, Stafford has a passer rating of 92.3 with 1,506 yards, 10 touchdowns, and 4 interceptions.
They last played in Week 6 of the 2022 season. It finished in a 24-10 win for the Rams. Stafford threw 26 completions for 253 yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception.
