Davante Adams had a great opportunity to break the cycle of defeats in the NFC Championship games. But it wasn’t meant to be, as the Los Angeles Rams came up short against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday night.
In his 12 seasons in the NFL, Adams has put together a Hall of Fame-worthy career, earning multiple All-Pro honors and Pro Bowl selections. Still, he just couldn’t get past the last obstacle, winning a conference title game.
The thought of never accomplishing his dream bothered Adams. The Los Angeles Rams gave him the chance and the platform to make things right. However, he experienced disappointment once again.
Adams and the Rams lost 31-27 to the Seahawks. Naturally, he was emotional because the result didn’t go as he had hoped.
It’s tough. It’s tough to talk.
Davante Adams said
Adams played his heart out. He caught 6 passes for 89 yards and scored one touchdown. That being said, individual statistics matter little when the team won’t be in the Super Bowl.
Reporters asked Adams about his future. The veteran wide receiver paused for a moment before responding. Considering it was not long after a gut-wrenching loss, he isn’t focused on what the future may or may not hold.
It’s tough to focus on that [future] right now. It’s tough. It’s a tough moment we’re in right now, so process the emotions of this and then worry about that. Obviously, I love this team, love what this team is about. Love the fight that we had all year. It just sucks to come up short.

Adams understands better than most that it takes a lot to play in a conference title game. He competed in not just one, two, or three, but four title-deciding games before Sunday’s matchup in Seattle. Coincidentally, it was the Seahawks who knocked the Adams and the Packers in 2014.

Adams signed a two-year contract ahead of the 2025 season, recording 60 receptions for 789 yards and leading the league in receiving touchdowns with 14, marking the third such achievement of his career. He may be 33, but with those stats, it’s clear he can still be a stable contributor for the Rams.
Davante Adams gives his honest opinion on teammate Matthew Stafford
Matthew Stafford played an instrumental role in the Rams’ deep playoff run. He finished as the league’s top gunslinger, completing 4707 yards, 46 touchdowns, and 8 picks. Seattle’s top defense struggled to stop him from finding his receivers. He threw for 374 yards and 3 touchdowns.

He’s one of the best quarterbacks that has ever played this game. You know, one of the coolest teammates I have ever had… I don’t know if I have ever played with somebody who is a baller and such an easy guy to function with… Sit next to him in the offensive meeting. Being able to spend time with him this year and get to know him even more.

Stafford’s future is uncertain as well. He had one foot out of LA before Sean McVay convinced him to stick around, and the 37-year-old signed an extension.
Yeah, I mean, if he [Stafford] still wants to play, what the hell kind of question is that? We’ve been totally present, and I know that if he wants to, he’s still playing at a pretty good clip. I mean, he’s the MVP of the league. I got respect for everybody else, but this guy is played at a level that’s just different.
McVay responded after a reporter asked him about Stafford’s future
"If he still wants to play, what the hell kind of question is that."
