While awaiting the hiring of General Manager and Head Coach positions to determine his future with the New York Jets, star wide receiver Davante Adams is quite aware of the highly likely possibility of hitting the open market. Should that happen, he would undoubtedly have numerous options due to his prominence in the league; however, there is one team he would not prefer to join: Washington Commanders.
The Commanders’ turnaround from a 4-13 end last season to a 12-5 this season with an NFC Championship game appearance is certainly one of the most impressive stories in the league. And the credit for carrying the team through such glory goes to rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels. Still, it’s undeniable that the team lacks strong weapons on the roster which opens the possibility for it being their priority in the offseason.
While it remains to be seen how they take onto the Philadelphia Eagles in the conference championship game, the veteran wideout doesn’t want his name to be associated with them. In a recent interview with the Up & Adams podcast, Davante gave reasons why he would not play for Washington.
I would have to give up my number, though, and I don’t know if I could do that so I’ll let [Terry McLaurin] rock it.

The reason may seem odd to some, but Adams is quite stern about it. But interestingly, he has digested the possibility that his run with New York was surprisingly short and he might be parting ways alongside his long-time friend and teammate, Aaron Rodgers– the very person who convinced the veteran receiver to join the Green Gang.
Davante Adams hints at possible return to Packers
Speaking of Adams’ landing spots, he seems to be hinting towards one team he is willing to join if his journey in New York is cut short. Talking about his former team, the Green Bay Packers, and quarterback Jordan Love, he seems to be hinting at his desire to return to them.

In fact, the six-time Pro Bowler complimented Love and Daniels together, when he observed some reflection of the Packers’ quarterback in the Commanders rookie. If Daniels had landed in the Las Vegas Raiders, which Davante was insistent towards, the star wideout wouldn’t have left the team.
Regardless, while he stated that he would not use the Commanders, there’s a big possibility that if Green Bay pursued him, he would agree within seconds. He believes that they lack a strong receiver which has affected their strong offense, adding him may work wonders for them.
