Davante Adams and Jimmy Garoppolo will reunite for the second time in their career at the Los Angeles Rams. The wideout and the quarterback had previously shared a brief time in Las Vegas in 2023.
However, their relationship dynamic has shifted since. In 2023, Adams was not a fan of Garoppolo and admitted to signing off on benching the quarterback after one game and bringing in Aidan O’Connell.
I signed off on that. And that’s just the reality of it. You know, I love Jimmy and he’s a great guy, but something had to happen in order for us to have a chance down the stretch and in order for me to remain a Raider, in all honesty.
Adams said during an episode of Netflix original ‘Receiver’
That is no longer the case. Davante Adams recently joined in conversation with ESPN’s LA Sedano and Cap, where he sang praises of the veteran quarterback. Adams admitted that his previous comments had little to do with anything personal. He reflected that his comments stemmed from the miserable conditions on the Raiders team.
Adams also added that they have talked it out. Furthermore, Adams and Garoppolo have been making plays since joining the Rams.
I love Jimmy. It was never a personal thing… Obviously, that was just a dark moment in all of our lives. I think all of us were pretty miserable over there. And we kind of caught up and laughed about it and we’ve been making plays since we’ve been out here, so it’s been fun.

Adams trashing the Raiders’ management is no lone event. During the Rams OTA, Adams noted that there’s no “dark cloud over the building” that he experienced for a few years in Los Angeles.
Jimmy Garoppolo could start for the Rams as Stafford battles back soreness
Jimmy Garoppolo, in his early 30s, was hired by the Los Angeles Rams as a backup to Matthew Stafford.
Stafford, who’s in his late 30s, is still a respected quarterback and is one of the best in the league. In 2024, Stafford threw for 3762 yards and 20 touchdowns with a completion rate of 65.8.

Sean McVay, the Rams’ head coach, reported last week that back soreness has crept up on Matthew Stafford. He has not attended any practice sessions since the team started its training camp at Loyola Marymount University. As of now, Stafford is currently week-to-week and might not start at the beginning of the season. This means that Garoppolo might return to the field after all.
The Rams have been steaming ahead despite the absence of Stafford with Garoppolo. The 33-year-old Illinoisan has been continuously praised by the Rams’ management as well. In a recent sitdown with Kay Adams, McVay praised Garoppolo and admitted his presence is a blessing.
I look at Jimmy — he’s a starting quarterback. Jimmy’s played at a really high level. an he’s going into Year 12. He’s got so many things to bring to the table… There’s no doubt in my mind he’s a starting quarterback in this league, and I think he’ll get a chance to be able to do that again. … Having Jimmy has been a real blessing.
McVay told Kay Adams
McVay was not alone in praising the quarterback. The offensive coordinator, Matt LaFleur, who had previously worked with Garoppolo in the San Francisco 49ers, confessed his adoration for him. He added that Garoppolo has the locker room’s trust and a command of the huddle out in the field.

The Rams, who made six postseason appearances in the past nine years, are gearing up to improve on their 10-7 record from last season. Their main weapon this time is definitely the offensive depth. In addition to Stafford and Garoppolo, Stetson Bennet has also been showing signs of promise in the training camp. With Adams and Puka Nacua, they have one of the best wide receiver duos in the entire league.
The depth is equally visible in other offensive positions. In the seven days of training, Blake Corum, Jarquez Hunter, Jordan Whittington, and Konata Mumpfield have all impressed the coaching panel. The tight ends’ room is also stacked and powerful.
