Davante Adams is one of the best wide receivers in the NFL. He has proven his talent year after year on the field, which is why the Las Vegas Raiders fanbase was beyond excited when he announced that he was going to be signing with them for five years in 2022. However, his first two seasons with the team were nothing short of a nightmare for him.
The 2023-24 season was not what it was supposed to be for the Raiders because of the entire fiasco involving former head coach Josh McDaniels and his leadership style. In the latest Netflix documentary Receiver features Davante Adams, the wideout’s frustration can be seen a few weeks into his first year with his former college quarterback Derek Carr and the Las Vegas Raiders.

Davante Adams sustained a shoulder injury early on in the season and despite his best attempts to completely recover from it, he was compelled to play through the pain. Throughout the documentary, Adams’ frustrations with the team are seen, the final straw for him, however, came in the matchup against the New England Patriots after he took a nasty hit from safety Jabrill Peppers.

Right after that hit, Adams went to the sidelines before going on an expletive-laden rant.
I gotta get the f*** out of here and I lose my f***ing life, I ain't never been hit this many f***ing times in my career. Every game, I get f***ed up.Davante Adams said
Adams has had a target on his back for a long time, however, his first few games with the Raiders were far from what he had hoped for them to be.

The chemistry between him and Derek Carr did not work well, and to make his woes worse, he ended up taking a lot of hits for no productive reason. Luckily, the Raiders won that game against the Patriots 21-17. Things went downhill for the team as Josh McDaniels ended up getting fired 8 weeks into the season after a disappointing 3-5 start. Despite Antonio Pierce stepping in as interim head coach and guiding the team to a decent record, the Raiders parted ways with longtime quarterback Derek Carr on the 14th of February.
Carr was one of the main reasons why Davante Adams chose to go to the Raiders, it was because they had played with each other before and had achieved success. Despite the departure of Carr, Adams remains committed to playing out the rest of his contract with the Raiders. This year, the team will hope to start on a better foot with Pierce retained as the full-time head coach of the franchise and quarterbacks Aidan O’Connell and Gardner Minshew closely competing for the starter’s role. Irrespective of who wins, Davante Adams is now content as he feels valued once again.
