Dave Bautista is one of the biggest professional wrestlers turned actors in Hollywood. The Animal left WWE in 2010 to focus on his acting career. It was a pretty unfashionable exit that raised a lot of questions. However, after almost 14 years, the former World Heavyweight Champion disclosed the real reason behind him leaving WWE.
Speaking with Chris Van Vliet on Insight, the Animal said that the times were pretty different when he made his move to Hollywood in 2010. He added that at that time WWE wanted to keep the talent exclusive to the house only. Therefore, the only option he had was to leave the company to seek more acting opportunities.
Where I think in the past, it was just kind of the opposite, everything, want to keep everything contained, everything, every money in house, which is why I ended up leaving the company, because I wasn't afforded the opportunity to do stuff outside of the company.Dave Bautista said via Insight
In 2010, Dave Bautista left WWE after his last appearance on Raw after Over The Limit. He kicked off a career in MMA and even successfully landed a role in Marvel’s Guardians of The Galaxy. He came back to the company in an eminent fashion in January 2014. However, in June of the same year, he once again left the company due to major creative differences.
In 2019, the Hollywood star faced his mentor Triple H at WrestleMania, which marked the retirement match of the Animal. He recently spoke about making his comeback to WWE. Although there is a pretty decent chance, it is still a diminishing possibility. The 55-year-old star was recently spotted with a concerning transformation at the premiere of his film Killer’s Game.
Dave Bautista talked about the retirement tour of John Cena
Dave Bautista and John Cena have been the stars of the same era. Both of them won their first World Championships on the same night and had a similar type of career thereafter. However, when it came to retirement, Batista announced it on social media, while Cena announced a whole retirement tour. The Animal recently talked about the last ride of the Cenation Leader and why he never did it for himself.
Speaking with Chris Van Vliet, the 55-year-old said that announcing such tours feels disingenuous. He added that he feels uncomfortable with the conversation about retirement. Therefore, he just moved away in serenity when his time came in 2019.
I get along with John, I respect John a lot more than people think I do for some reason. I think the internet and fans have built this rivalry between us, which there really isn’t. This is how we’re different. I’d never do this. I couldn’t, it would feel disingenuous to me to go around and — But I see his point where he wants to go around and thank all the fans but there’s something in me where I just couldn’t do it,Dave Bautista added
Besides, the Hollywood star expressed happiness for the 16-time World Champion. He said that it is good for him and has nothing but respect for the Peacemaker star. The retirement tour of John Cena is going to kick off from Raw’s debut on Netflix next year to the end of 2025.
