David Alaba is a wanted man but his salary demands are unreasonable for clubs that are trying to sign him as each and every club are coming to terms with the losses that COVID-19 has caused

Reports previously claimed that David Alaba had signed a pre-contract with Real Madrid and was going to be a player there next season. It was also claimed that David Alaba had his heart set on a move to Real Madrid as it was his dream to play for the Los Blancos. Now AS Diario claims that no such pre-agreement exists between the club and the player and that a lot of clubs are still vying for signature as he is a highly rated defender who is also versatile.

It is David Alaba’s versatility that sets him apart from other defenders and makes him highly valuable

David Alaba is a highly versatile defender and is able to play as left-back, centre-back and defensive midfielder. He has been converted from left-back to centre-back by Hansi Flick and is currently one of the most solid centre-backs in the world now. Pair his versatility with his expiring contract and you have a highly valuable asset on your hands. No wonder there is a lot of clubs vying for his signature and a lot of competition is going on for him.

Clubs like Real Madrid, Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are vying for his signature. Each of the clubs are offering him a lucrative wage package with Manchester City offering him £14 million in annual wages and Real Madrid offering him £11 million in annual wages. Real Madrid feel that it is a good enough annual salary for the Austrian defender. The funny thing is David Alaba wanted a new contract at Bayern Munich which would see him earn £12 million there. As it stands, David Alaba’s wages are putting off many clubs from trying to sign him.
