Casemiro scored the opener through a Kroos corner in the 15th minute to the Madrid a deserved lead. Benzema doubled Madrid’s advantage after he slotted home into the top corner from a Hazard back-heel assist. Hazard scored the 3rd goal right on the cusp of half-time as a long ball from Kroos, found him 1 on 1 with the keeper.
David Bettoni, was in charge of the match proceedings for Madrid as Zidane was isolationg at home. Bettoni was seen on the phone on a few occasions during the game and was asked what messages Zidane sent to him.
He stated: “For the substitutions, I wanted to know the boss’ thoughts because he’s obviously the man in change and, let’s say, the most important person. Zidane was very happy with the attitude and play. He told me to congratulate the players, like he would have done. Nothing special. We’re happy with the three points.”
Bettoni praised his team’s attitude and was happy to give Zidane a win to enjoy.
“It was a deserved win and we played well from the start. We were very serious defensively. We knew Alavés can play well in transition and that they can counter attack well. So, the team did well. Now, we’ll rest for a couple of days and then prepare for the next match against Levante.
Real Madrid will miss their manager Zidane for 2 weeks. Bettoni will hope for a similar performance against Levante, whom they face next weekend.
