Belgian tennis star David Goffin believes that Carlos Alcaraz is playing the best tennis of his career. The 2017 ATP Finals runner-up looks forward to playing the Spaniard in the biggest stadiums again, and Miami provides a great opportunity for him.

Goffin and Alcaraz will face off in the Round of 64 at the Miami Masters. The Spaniard will start the match as the favorite, but Goffin wants to test his level by competing against the best.

I continue to play tennis to try to see where I stand compared to the best players in the world, and against Alcaraz, it will be evident. I have the opportunity to play against him once again, just to see where I stand at this moment. He is probably playing the best tennis of his career. He is still young, but he is an incredible player, so we will see. I am glad that I can play in a big stadium again. It is going to be a very exciting match, and we will see what I can do.

David Goffin said on the ATP tour

The good news for Goffin is that he won their last meeting. They played at the Astana Open in 2022, where the Belgian won in straight sets, 7-5, 6-3. Alcaraz is aiming to win his sixth Masters 1000 title and his second in Miami. His first Masters 1000 title came in Miami in 2022.

Carlos Alcaraz leads Barcelona field

World No.3 Carlos Alcaraz will lead the players at the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell in April. The World No. 3 will return to the ATP 500 event after winning in 2022 and 2023. He has a strong record of 10 wins and one loss at this tournament. Alcaraz will aim for another title as the top seed this year.

Casper Ruud is back to defend his 2024 title, which was the biggest win of his career. Former champion Kei Nishikori has received a wild card. The Japanese star won in Barcelona in 2014 and 2015. He will hope to perform well again on the Spanish courts.

Stan Wawrinka will also play as a wild card. The three-time Grand Slam champion last played this event in 2009. He has won 16 tour titles and reached the Barcelona semi-finals twice. His tournament record stands at 12 wins and five losses.

Pablo Carreno Busta is the third wild card entry. The Spanish player lost to Alcaraz in the 2022 final. He returns after missing over a year due to an elbow injury. The tournament will take place from April 14 to April 20 at Reial Club de Tenis Barcelona.

Carlos Alcaraz has a chance at the World No.2 ranking

Carlos Alcaraz has a chance to win big at the Miami Open. If he claims the title, he will earn the ATP Masters 1000 trophy he first won in 2022. A victory would also give him a major boost in ranking points. If Alexander Zverev loses before the quarter-finals, Alcaraz could return to World No. 2.

Zverev is the top seed in Miami and has held the No. 2 spot since November 4. He has struggled to find his best form this season, winning only four of his last eight matches. If Alcaraz does not win the title, Zverev will stay at No. 2 in the rankings after the tournament.

Jack Draper, fresh off his BNP Paribas Open win, also has a big opportunity. The British star is currently ranked No. 6 in the live rankings. He is only 90 points behind Novak Djokovic, meaning a strong Miami run could push him into the Top 5 for the first time.

Many Top 20 players are also looking to climb the rankings. Those ranked between No. 11 and No. 19 all have a chance to break into the Top 10. Holger Rune, Alex de Minaur, Tommy Paul, and Ben Shelton could achieve this even without winning the title.
