The New York Yankees were blown away by the Toronto Blue Jays once again. On Sunday, the team suffered a crushing 13-7 defeat in Game 2 of the American League Division Series (ALDS). After the game, David Ortiz would mock the Yankees while claiming that the series was done.
In Game 1, the Blue Jays’ offense exploded late on as they scored 4 runs in the 7th and 8th innings and went on to win 10-1. With the momentum on their side, they once again took down their division rivals.
After the first 3 innings, the Yankees found themselves 5-0 down as the Blue Jays pounced on Max Fried. The southpaw gave up an infield hit to Andres Gimenez in the bottom of the 4th inning and then walked Myles Straw.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone then took him off and replaced him with Will Warren. The relief pitcher would walk George Springer to load up the bases. He would then eventually strike out David Schneider to bring up Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to the plate.
The 5-time MLB All-Star, who has a good record against the Yankees, would launch a grand slam to extend his team’s lead to 9-0. This turned out to be the first grand slam in Blue Jays’ postseason history.

A two-run shot from Daulton Varsho and a solo bomb from Springer made it a 12-0 game. Cody Bellinger got the Yankees on board with a 2-run home run in the 6th inning before Varsho hit another home run (a solo shot this time) to extend the lead to 13-2
The Yankees did rally back a little and cut the 13-2 deficit to 13-7 in the 7th inning. However, they were comprehensively beaten on the day.

After the game, David Ortiz decided to poke fun at the Yankees. The former Boston Red Sox star mocked them while analyzing the game alongside ex-Yankees stars Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter. After A-Rod expressed that the outcome of the game could have been different had Fried played better, Ortiz took a shot at his former rivals and expressed that the series was done.
They can bring Jesus back and they’re still going to go to Cancun. It’s over. It’s a wrap, just so you know. This Toronto Blue Jays lineup ain’t playing around.

The Yankees do have a history of coming back from 2-0 down in the postseason. There have been a total of six instances where they have came back in a series after losing the first two games.
The last time they did so was in 2017 in the ALDS against the Cleveland Guardians. They lost the first 2 games in Cleveland that year before winning the next 3 to advance to the American League Championship Series (ALCS).
David Ortiz hilariously reveals his Yankees comeback lineup that can beat Blue Jays
The New York Yankees once again find themselves on the brink of elimination. After losing 13-7 in Game 2, they now face the danger of getting swept. After their loss, David Ortiz hilariously revealed his Yankees lineup that can beat the Toronto Blue Jays and make an epic comeback.

At first, the 10-time All-Star told Derek Jeter that the only way the team could come back from this deficit is by bringing him, Alex Rodriguez, and a few other players back.
The only chance the Yankees have is if you, Mo (Mariano Rivera), Andy (Andy Pettitte), and A-Rod come back and play.

Ortiz then went on to name a full lineup of former Yankees greats, which can help them beat out the Blue Jays. His team consisted of Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, Babe Ruth, Alex Rodriguez, Derek Jeter, Phil Rizzuto, Don Mattingly, Lou Gehrig, and Yogi Berra.

The action will now shift to Yankee Stadium in New York on Tuesday. A loss in that game would bring an end to the season for the Bronx Bombers. The Blue Jays, on the other hand, would advance to their first ALCS since 2016 if they win Game 3 and complete the sweep.
