David Ortiz found himself in a bit of trouble while pronouncing the name of the New York Yankees pitcher Cam Schlittler. He would later make a huge error live on air, leading to an awkward moment between the broadcasting crew.
The former Boston Red Sox star was joined by fellow MLB Hall of Famer Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, and Kevin Burkhardt for the Fox Sports coverage. After discussing the Yankees’ Game 3 win over the Toronto Blue Jays in the American League Division Series (ALDS), they started speaking about the upcoming Game 4 on Wednesday.
Schlittler, the rookie Yankees pitcher, will start Game 4 for them. He had a dominating performance in the do-or-die Game 3 of the Wild Card Series. In the 8 innings against the Red Sox, the 24-year-old managed to pick up 12 strikeouts.
Ortiz would express that he was going to put up a “show” tomorrow and dropped some huge praise on him.
That Cam kid…. he’s going to put up a show tomorrow. He is impressive. I mean, I be watching this young man pitch. I watched him in New York against the Red Sox… wow. He has some life in his fastball. It’s gonna be fun to watch tomorrow.

While Ortiz was impressed by him, he was having some trouble pronouncing his last name. In a video that went viral, he would ask A-Rod and Jeter to pronounce his name. After they, along with Burkhardt, pronounced it correctly, Rodriguez turned towards Ortiz and asked him to say it out loud.
“Big Papi” would end up calling him “Hitler“, a reference to the former Chancellor of Germany, Adolf Hitler. While A-Rod would laugh it off, it turned out to be an awkward moment. Jeter would try to cool down the situation before Burkhardt handled the conversation and urged him to call Schlitter by his first name of Cam.
David Ortiz asking the crew how they pronounce "Schlittler" took a very dark turn.

Derek Jeter hilariously leans in to hear David Ortiz praising Yankees following Game 3
David Ortiz has never been shy of throwing a shade at the New York Yankees. The 10-time MLB All-Star has often mocked his former rivals. So when he praised them after their Game 3 win, Derek Jeter had to lean in and hear out what his ex-rival was saying about his former team.

The Blue Jays once again started in strong fashion and jumped on starting pitcher Carlos Rodon. A 2-run home run from Vladimir Guerrero Jr. in the first inning was followed by a 4-run 3rd inning. The Yankees found themselves 6-1 down and faced elimination.
The Bronx Bombers, however, kept themselves alive. An RBI double from Judge and a sacrifice fly from Giancarlo Stanton made it a 6-3 game. Judge then stole the spotlight with a 3-run bomb in the 4th inning to level the game at 6-6.
A solo home run from Jazz Chisholm Jr. in the 5th inning turned the game around. This was the first time they led in this series. They added 2 more runs and went on to win the game with a 9-6 score and forced Game 4.
Near the end of the regular season, Chisholm Jr. lauded his team and claimed that they were the “best team” in the league. Ortiz would refer to this and agreed with it.
They showed that tonight. They should have been playing like that from the very beginning… The thing is that when you have a team like that, you have to think about the pieces that you have. How you can control and put it together… The Yankees fight all the way through the worst series. They know that the light get brighter and they know how to execute.

As Ortiz kept on praising the Yankees, Jeter would hilariously lean in closer to listen to what he was saying.

The Yankees have faced elimination 3 times this postseason and have managed to come out winners on all 3 occasions. On Wednesday in Game 4, their backs will be up against the wall again. However, with momentum on their side, the Bronx Bombers will be hopeful of another positive result and enforcing Game 5 in Toronto.
