In the 21st Century, the Boston Red Sox have been one of the most successful teams in MLB. However, in the last few years, the team has not managed to get into the postseason, which has frustrated the fans. Three-time World Series David Ortiz has now urged the team to ‘make it rain’ for one top slugger in the free agency.
The Red Sox have strengthened their pitching prowess this offseason. After acquiring Garrett Crochet, the AL Comeback Player of the Year through a trade, the team roped in starting pitcher Walker Buehler on a one-year deal from free agency.
The hitting though is one department where the Red Sox can get better. In a chat with Tom Caron during the Fenway Fest, David Ortiz was asked whether the offseason moves made them a playoff team.
The Hall of Famer claimed the team still needs one top at-bat in the lineup. He emphasized how this player could help Rafael Devers and others.
"PLEASE! PLEASE… to put a good lineup together, nowadays, is not that difficult. What you gotta do is just make it rain." 💸 @davidortiz NEEDS October baseball at Fenway @TomCaron | #RedSox pic.twitter.com/4uq9pbFCX3

These words from Ortiz also comes at a time when the Red Sox are linked with a top slugger in Alex Bregman. The former Houston Astros star is currently a free agent and is expected not to re-sign with the AL West side.
Boston Red Sox emerge as strong candidate for Nolan Arenado
The ongoing MLB offseason has linked some top names with some clubs. As per new reports, 8-time Nolan Arenado has now emerged as a strong candidate for the Boston Red Sox.
According to MLB.com’s John Denton, the 8-time All-Star winner is open to joining the Red Sox and waiving his no-trade clause. The 33-year-old has been one of the big names that teams are looking upon after he expressed his desire to leave the St. Louis Cardinals on a trade move.
Not sure of the fit. Devers would either have to DH por move to 2b, things I doubt he wants to do.

Arenado was previously linked with the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Yankees as well. With the Yankees signing Paul Goldschmidt, the links of Arenado to the Bronx grew even more.
With the Red Sox looking for a bat, Arenado could be a fit for the team. It remains to be seen though where the third baseman will play in the 2025 season.
