Boston Bruins alternate captain David Pastrnak moves on from the benching incident on Sunday during the game against Seattle Kraken. Following Monday’s practice game, ‘Pasta’ appeared on media to talk about what he felt while watching the team clinch a 2-0.

While his benching incident drew mixed reactions from fans on social media, the 28-year-old took accountability for his mistake. Coach Jim Montgomery refused to comment on the incident on Sunday saying, “Coach’s decision, third period,” that’s it.

Since getting benched late in the second period at TD Garden, David Pastrnak did not return for the remainder of the game. He is one of the NHL’s best offensive players and a cornerstone of the team.

But his misplay on Sunday drew the ire of his coach, keeping him off of the ice. Pastrnak admitted he shouldn’t have made the move into the neutral zone during the power play.

That was a bad turnover. So I take responsibility for it. I just want to move forward. I don’t want to be any distraction to our team…I take accountability and already moving forward.

Jim Montgomery believes there needs to be more chemistry between David Pastrnak and Elias Lindholm to get the offense in full form. “We look disjointed at times,” Montgomery commented.

However, the past is already left behind. As Pastrnak said, he never looks back. They’ll now be focusing on their next game against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday.

Forward Charlie Coyle praises David Pastrnak’s positive attitude

Despite the benching incident, David Pastrnak remained in tune with the game on the ice. He kept encouraging the players and even celebrated their win, even if he didn’t contribute to it. His positive attitude was heavily praised by teammate Charlie Coyle.

Coyle said that during the game he was focused on the puck instead of the benching chaos going on at the other end of the arena. Following the conclusion, he said, “Whatever the coach says and whatever his decisions are, you’ve just got to go play.”

Pasta there, he wasn’t silent. He was bringing energy. He was talking. He was into it. That’s a sign of a good teammate right there. That’s why he wears a letter. That’s why he’s one of our captains, one of our leaders. Lot to be said for that.

Coach Jim Montgomery also echoed the same sentiment. He said he’s grateful for the team he’s coaching and for the culture in the locker room that holds everyone responsible for their actions.

Montgomery has been very vocal about player mistakes and has never backed off from talking to them, including captain Brad Marchand. Montogomery later praised Pastrnak, saying he was “incredible” during Sunday’s game and his attitude brought a lot of positivity.
