The start of the 2024-25 NHL season has so far been disappointing for the Boston Bruins. Forward David Pastrnak has admitted this and stated that they “have to be much better” than what they have shown in the opening 16 games of the season.
The 2022-23 Presidents’ Trophy winners have had mixed results so far. Following an overtime 4-3 victory against the Calgary Flames, the team ended up losing 3-2 in overtime on Saturday night against the Ottawa Senators.
The loss against the Sens leaves the team with a 7-7-2 record. Head coach Jim Montgomery seemed stunned with the loss and had no answers for the media which left the fans furious.
Following Monday’s practice session, Pastrnak would speak to the media regarding the season. The 28-year-old pointed out that the team needs to show “confidence” and trust each other.

David Pastrnak claims comments regarding injury were taken out of context
In the interview after the practice session on Monday, David Pastranak would shrug off concerns regarding a previous injury which perhaps was affecting his slow start to the season. He claimed his comments were taken “out of context“.
Following the loss on Saturday, Pastrnak told Czech media that he was dealing with an injury during the summer. This occurred to him during the Ice Hockey World Championship. Pastrnak claimed that the injury was “mainly mental“.
Pastrnak also says the Czech interview was taken somewhat out of context, and that the answer he gave was more about how his summer went. He says he does not currently feel any limitations physically, and that he felt pretty good as camp went on.

Recently the forward star found himself in an unexpected position. During the game against Seattle Kraken, he was benched for the entire third period, leading to speculations regarding some rifts between him and coach Montgomery.
The Bruins coach would just say “coach’s decision” in his explanation of this. Meanwhile, Pastrnak took full accountability for it and claimed he was looking to move forward following a “bad turnover“.
In the 16 games of the season so far, Pastrnak has scored six goals and picked up eight assists to take his points tally to 14. He though has not scored in the last seven games which has become a little concern for some fans of the Bruins.
