As per the video shot by Rosemary Hernandez’s friends, one can see David Rientjes suffering a fast first period defeat to the female wrestler in the said competition after trying to intimidate her. As per reports, Rientjes belonged to Belmont High School while Rosemary Hernandez belonged to James Monroe High.
Unfortunately, things took a disturbing spin right after the match. Right after David’s loss, he decided to try leaving the wrestling mat in a way to avoid acknowledging his opponent’s victory over him. The referee had to bring David back to the match as his teammates and coaches laughed.
Rientjes had other plans, to try to diminish Rosemary’s win by not shaking hands. However, he was forced front and center to shake her hand in front of the cheering crowd. The female wrestler’s friends were filming the match and intended to post it online afterwards.

The footage has since gone viral all over social media. This match happened in a time when it was very rare for girls to wrestle boys, so Rientjes’s loss to Rosemary made headlines.
