With IPL 2021 being postponed as the COVID-19 had invaded the bio-bubbles despite strict protocols and precautions being followed, the Aussie contingent had to travel to the Maldives due to a travel ban in place in their country. Meanwhile there arose rumours of a mini-controversy between David Warner and Michael Slater who were speculated to have entered into a verbal war which subsequently ended up with exchange of blows.
David Warner and Michael Slater who are part of the 38 Aussie cricketers, coaches and support staff in Maldives are yet to return to their country, as Australia has banned travelers from India, including its own citizens, from entering the country until May 15. The Board of Control for Cricket in India had earlier arranged a Charted Flight for them to reach Maldives.

Meanwhile, Warner and Slater took the opportunity to respond to the allegations as they spoke to Fox Sports. “I don’t know where you get these things from. Unless you were here and have got concrete evidence you can’t write anything. Nothing happened,” David Warner said.
David Warner then asked people not to believe on such controversies without any credible evidence which could be relied upon. Meanwhile, Michael Slater was extremely unhappy and shocked to hear spreading of such rumors over the internet and said, “There is absolutely nothing to the rumour mill … Davie and I are great mates and absolutely zero chance of [having] a fight”
The speculations regarding their fight were repudiated by the Aussie duo expressing the solid bond existing between them and there was no possibility for any fight to emerge between them.
