The John Deere Classic 2024 champion, Davis Thompson became emotional after his final shot. It was his first PGA Tour victory after playing in 63 tournaments. Thompson is the 24th first-time winner of the John Deere Classic.

Holly Grace Robinson Thompson, who is the wife of Davis Thompson, was watching him secure his first career win at a PGA event. Right after the winning shot, she quickly went to her beau and the couple shared a warm hug. It was an emotional moment on the ground.

Even during the post-game interview, Thompson got emotional referring to his wife. He said:

Just seeing my wife means a lot. I just love her so much and I’m so thankful she was able to make it. Just tried to stay present all day and went it finally went in, just a sign of relief.

Thompson shot a 28-under 256 total, breaking the previous tournament record. Thompson won easily by four strokes, edging past C.T. Pan, Michael Thorbjornsen, and Luke Clanton.

Davis Thompson and Holly Grace married early for Holly’s mother who was fighting cancer

Davis Thompson and Holly Grace’s love story is one of resilience. The pair met at college in 2020 and became engaged in November 2022. They had intended to marry on December 16, 2023, but shifted the date forward to accommodate Holly Grace’s mother, who was fighting cancer.

The couple arranged their wedding in just one month, so Holly Grace’s mother could attend. They tied the knot on May 27, 2023.

We were able to marry and spend about one more month with my mother on Earth.

Despite the difficulties, the newlyweds supported one another. Holly Grace spent additional time with Thompson on his way to win his first PGA Tour event.

Thompson, 25, led the leaderboard at TPC Deere Run with a 28-under 256 total, earning $1.44 million. But his most treasured memory was celebrating with his wife.
