Kyler Murray‘s presence has opened new avenues for the Minnesota Vikings. The NFC North franchise is generating significant interest in free agency. At the front of the line is DeAndre Hopkins. The veteran wide receiver wants to receive passes from Murray.

TMZ Sports caught up with Hopkins at the airport last week and asked his preferred destination now that he is a free agent. D-Hop didn’t waste any time mentioning the Vikings, as he would love to team up with Murray.

If Kyler [Murray] need me he know I’m there, if the Vikings need me they know I’ll be there… I think Kyler fits in perfect there… one of the best accurate quarterbacks in the game and his stats show that.

DeAndre Hopkins said

Of course, it should be considered a crime to forget when Murray and Hopkins lit up the NFL with their telepathic connection. The pair spent three seasons together with the Arizona Cardinals. However, Hopkins only remained healthy for just one season (2020-21). That year, the 33-year-old wideout recorded 1407 yards and 6 touchdowns on 115 receptions, earning a second-team All-Pro and a fifth Pro Bowl nod.

Hopkins left Arizona in 2023 to sign with the Tennessee Titans. He further had stops in Kansas City and Baltimore. He reached his first and only Super Bowl while playing for the Chiefs in the 2024-25 season.

The Vikings are not the only team on Hopkins’ shopping list. He also won’t turn down a chance to play for the Buffalo BIlls.

Me and Josh Allen could do some damage, for sure. I’m a football guy now, and Buffalo is a football team, and Josh Allen is a football player. He’s a player’s player as we say.

Hopkins declared in January while appearing on the Up & Adams Show

The route to Buffalo may be closed for the year. Right after Hopkins made his intentions known, the Bills traded for DJ Moore from the Chicago Bears.

Murray stuck around in Arizona a bit longer and bagged a handsome extension. However, inconsistencies and injuries hampered his progress. The Cardinals’ new coaching regime, led by Mike LeFleur, decided to let the former first overall pick leave earlier this year. Murray was quickly picked up by the Vikings, with whom he signed a one-year deal.

Should the Vikings reunite Kyler Murray with DeAndre Hopkins?

The Vikings boast one of the best wide receiver duos in football. Justin Jefferson is arguably the best WR in the league, and Jordan Addison is a respectable WR2.

That said, it’s always nice to have a veteran marksman in the offense, and it’s exactly the kind of role Hopkins took on at the Chiefs and the Ravens. With Jalen Nailor joining the Raiders, bringing in Hopkins to lock down the WR3 spot just makes sense.

Money should not pose an issue. According to The Athletic and Spotrac, the Vikings have $30 million cap space, which is more than enough to cover Hopkins’ cost for one year.
