Nikola Jokic and DeAndre Jordan

The Denver Nuggets star players Nikola Jokic and DeAndre Jordan have been making the headlines lately for their “triple kiss handshake.” Jokic has been known for his introverted personality on and off the court but Jordan shared a hilarious story, showing the other side of ‘The Joker’ to the NBA community on the Podcast P with Paul George.

On the podcast, Jordan explained how the handshake was a ‘Serbian thing’ and also asserted that it had all started with Boban Marjanovic. Not only that, but Jordan also claimed that Jokic labeled him as a ‘black Serbian’ after they had their perfect handshake, as he did not want to disappoint him with the particular handshake he used to do with Marjanovic.

I saw him and Boban doing some kinda like triple kiss thing. And I'm like, 'Okay cool. I've seen that in Europe before.' I've seen the two but never the three. So I'm like, 'Why do you do three kisses with Bobi?' He's like, 'Brother, it's a Serbian thing. But you're a Black Serbian.' I'm like, 'Cool. Bet.'

On the other hand, Jordan and Jokic did not have a great NBA season as per their standards, especially after clinching the title last 2022-23 NBA season. This 2023-24 season, Jokic and his Nuggets side were knocked out by the Minnesota Timberwolves in round 2 of the NBA playoffs, which surprised quite a lot of NBA supporters. It remains to be seen how they come back in the upcoming NBA season.

Nikola Jokic once praised DeAndre Jordan’s impact in the locker room during NBA playoffs

The Denver Nuggets’ veteran DeAndre Jordan might not be the most important player on the court. However, his impact off-the-court, in the locker room, is valued the most, at least by the Nuggets star man, Nikola Jokic. During the NBA Playoffs, Jokic shared his views on Jordan in a post-match press conference, highlighting how crucial he is for the Nuggets side.

I mean, a great person, great in any aspect of a locker room or team. I don't know. He's really like to give you advice on and off the court, to make fun of somebody, to make fun of him. He's always up to something, so to share a glass of wine too. He's a really good teammate.

In addition, Jokic highlighted how Jordan was eager to interact with players both on and off the court, maintaining a positive atmosphere that was beneficial to the performance of the team. Jordan’s leadership abilities and seasoned background are evident in his ability to relate to and advise those around him.
