The 15th edition of IPL is in full commencement and Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been an inevitable part of it since the inauguration of the tournament in 2008. The veteran wicket-keeper batsman has been shining like a star in this year’s tournament so far. Dhoni has hung up his boots for the Indian national side but the fans are still privileged to see him play in the yellow jersey of Chennai Super Kings.

This year MSD has announced that he won’t captain the side and has handed the captaincy to Ravindra Jadeja. He still remains an irreplaceable part of the men in yellow and provides invaluable insights from behind the stumps. Dhoni has proven several times this season that age is just a number and has played some fabulous knocks to help his side win.

Recently the fans got to see a glimpse of vintage Dhoni against archrivals Mumbai Indians. Dhoni scored 16 runs in the last four balls to help his side win in a nail biting finish of the match. In spite of all these facts we can’t deny that Mahi is definitely aging and sooner or later he’ll have to hang up his boots. Dhoni has answered such questions with “definitely not” and “I haven’t still left behind” the previous IPL seasons, but the fans speculate that their beloved superstar may be retiring after the season.

Fans unready to let go of Dhoni yet

However no fan is ready to let Thala retire. The CSK fans definitely want him to continue playing for CSK. In the match against Punjab in the Wankhede Stadium the Chennai fans held up a banner which read “dear Dhoni, please don’t retire. Cricket without jersey number 7 will never be the same.”
