Deebo Samuel remains confident that he will start games with wide receiver partner Brandon Aiyuk at the San Francisco 49ers in 2024. Aiyuk and the 49ers are in a stalemate about his contract.
The last couple of weeks were a roller-coaster ride for the 49ers fans as they saw Aiyuk linked with multiple trade deals. It started with the New England Patriots agreeing to meet his $32 million asking price, but all pro-wideout turned it down.
Next, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cleveland Browns both reportedly offered trade deals that involved one player and a 2nd and a 3rd round pick. The Browns even offered Pro Bowl receiver Amari Cooper in the exchange deal, but Aiyuk did not seem to care much and refused it.
Earlier this week, NFL Media’s Mike Garafolo revealed that the 49ers resumed negotiations with Brandon Aiyuk and were on the same page. On Friday, Deebo Samuel more or less confirmed that the Aiyuk saga is in its last stage on Up & Adams.
BA’s [Brandon Aiyuk] gonna be part of this team, so you don’t have to worry about that.Deebo Samuel told host Kay Adams
Aiyuk turned down the 49ers’ initial $28 million offer because he wanted close to Justin Jefferson’s $35 million annual salary package.
Can this #49ers team WIN a Super Bowl without WR Brandon Aiyuk?? ??

GM John Lynch spoke about the biggest hurdle in the Brandon Aiyuk extension
49ers General Manager John Lynch is a key part of negotiating with Aiyuk and their representatives. While it may appear their relationship soured because of the delay, that isn’t the case; in fact, the Arizona alumni visited Lynch at the 49ers training ground and spoke with him on multiple occasions.
He was back at the camp on Thursday as well, presumably to discuss the terms of his extension. Lynch wants to wrap it up quickly because the regular season is only 20 days away. However, it’s not a cakewalk, as many on social media point out.
It’s been a long, arduous, hard process, hard journey. We started this early and for whatever reason haven’t been able to get it across the finish line. That’s been frustrating. But the communication has still been really good with Brandon and his agent, and we’re trying to figure out a solution.John Lynch told KNBR’s Brian Murphy and Markus Boucher
Lynch, along with head coach Kyle Shanahan, remain hopeful that they will be able to reach a number as soon as possible.

I’m always hopeful [and] I’m an optimistic person in nature, and so I’m always hopeful that we get there and get there soon.John Lynch said
Brandon Aiyuk had a remarkable 2023 season. He led the 49ers’ receiver core with 75 receptions for 1342 yards and 7 touchdowns en route to a Super Bowl appearance.
