After a rocky start, the San Francisco 49ers finally appear to be on the right track as they improved to 5-4 following a solid win over the Tampa Bay Buccanneers. Much credit goes to their star quarterback Brock Purdy for his extraordinary performance; however, he is still not satisfied.

Since Sunday’s victory, Purdy has truly become the star of the week as he silenced his critics by completing 25 out of his 36 passes for 353 yards and two touchdowns. There have even been speculations that the Niners may reward him with the highest-paid quarterback contract next season. Yet, wide receiver Deebo Samuel revealed the quarterback was disappointed with his performance.

We were just on the way back from Tampa and I walk past him and he looked kind of frustrated a little bit and I’m like ‘what’s going on? You almost just threw for 400 yards and we won the game’, and he’s like ‘I just got to be better.’ He was just sitting there beating himself up. I’m like bro we just won the game and he’s like ‘I gotta make this throw, I gotta make this throw.’

The Pro Bowler receiver emphasized that the star quarterback constantly feels the need to play better and improve, no matter how exceptional his performance on the field may be.

49ers owner Jed York ready to reward Brock Purdy after stellar season

Drafted in the last round, Purdy held onto the label of “Mr. Irrelevant for a long time until the 49ers gave him an opportunity to start after both starting and backup quarterbacks went on the injury reserve. To everyone’s surprise, he advanced the team to a championship in his first season and then to the Super Bowl last season.

The 49ers probably would have won the Super Bowl game as well, if the overtime rule mishap hadn’t happened. Regardless, the 49ers were hugely impressed by Purdy and owner Jed York claimed that he is willing to offer him a lucrative deal once he asks next season.

At present, Purdy is one of the least-paid quarterbacks in the league but according to ESPN reporter, Nick Wagoner, he is expected to receive one of the highest-paid contracts after the 49ers rewarded cornerback Deommodore Lenoir with a $92 million contract for five-year, with average annual salary of $18.4 million.
