Deebo Samuel’s rant on social media bizarrely backfires as WR becomes a laughingstock
Despite recording merely two catches for 22 yards, 49ers' Deebo Samuel isn’t ready to accept that he is struggling and blamed the team instead.

This season has been far from what the San Francisco 49ers had expected after their Super Bowl appearance last season. While there have been many factors behind their poor 5-6 record so far, their offense has struggled immensely on the field. However, wide receiver Deebo Samuel isn’t ready to accept that he is the problem.
Just last Sunday, the veteran wideout delivered a subpar performance, recording merely two catches for 22 yards. But when it became a chatter after the victory with many highlighting his on-field struggle, he refused to accept it, and instead, blamed the team for not getting him the opportunities.
Unfortunately for him, his rant attracted a handful of backlash from the fans, especially after he has fallen behind Jauan Jennings in the Niners’ receiving hierarchy. Jennings leads Samuel in catches, yards, and touchdowns this season. That’s why, he shared a follow-up post clarifying his previous comment, stating it wasn’t an attack on his teammates.

Despite the veteran’s explanation, it was clear that Samuel felt disappointed about not receiving the ball more often. Samuel has struggled since the start of the season as his five carries for 13 yards were the most carries since Week 1 of this season.
Will Deebo Samuel be part of the 49ers’ plans in 2025?
This rant by the All-Pro wide receiver has led to a discussion on his future in San Francisco, given he would become eligible for an extension next season. However, NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco believes that Samuel’s stint with the Niners won’t be over so soon.
At present, the Niners’ receiving room is struggling with the uncertainty of the effect of ACL injury on Brandon Aiyuk’s performance and the underwhelming rookie season of Ricky Pearsall. Even though Samuel has struggled, he adds offensive strength to the team, which certainly needs to overcome the woes of this season.
