IPL 2021: Twitter reacts as Deepak Hooda and KL Rahul come up with masterful knocks

Deepak Hooda and KL Rahul
Punjab Kings (PBKS) came into the Indian Premier League (IPL) season with a new team, logo and kit as they looked for a change in their fortunes. And if the display in their first match of the 2021 season against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Mumbai is anything to go by, the team does look in excellent stead for the rest of the season. This was thanks in large to two stunning knocks from Deepak Hooda and KL Rahul.
Earlier, RR had won the toss and opted to field first. Both sides handed debuts to a few players as the likes of Chetan Sakariya (RR), Shahrukh Khan, Riley Meredith and Jhye Richardson got picked after their acquisition at the auction. Sakariya gave the side a good start by removing Mayank Agarwal, but Rahul and Chris Gayle ensured that they kept the scoreboard ticking while upping the ante.
Deepak Hooda and KL Rahul explode; Twitter reacts

After Gayle was dismissed by part-timer Riyan Parag, Deepak Hooda walked in to bat ahead of Nicholas Pooran. Although it seemed like a strange decision to have an explosive batter like Pooran batting lower down the order, the move worked wonders as Hooda came up with a knock for the ages. The Baroda batsman took on the likes of Shivam Dube and Shreyas Gopal and hit them around the park.
He reached his fifty in just 20 balls even as Rahul continued to find the fence at the other end. The duo offered the RR bowlers no respite throughout. Hooda was ultimately dismissed for 64 runs in just 28 balls. But by then, the damage had been done. Rahul then went on to score 91runs.
This is how Twitter reacted to Punjab Kings’ batting performance.
