Deion Sanders wants the CFP to name the best corner in football award on his name and the first recipient must be Travis Hunter.

Perhaps it skipped Deion Sanders’ mind that the CFP committee does have an award for the best cornerback for NCAA Division 1 football. It’s called the Jim Thorpe Award, which he won during the 1988 season along with the Unanimous All-American accolade.
During a recent presser, the Colorado Buffaloes’ head coach batted for Travis Hunter for the Heisman Trophy. From his point of view, Hunter is the best player in college football, whether it’s in offense or in defense.
For that reason, he deserves every award the committee can offer because the numbers speak for themselves.
Travis [Hunter] is the best defensive player and the best offensive player in the country. I don’t see anybody better; I don’t see anyone projected better… He should win the Thorpe, Biletnikoff, the Jerry Rice, the Prime award.
Deion Sanders said.
Due to Hunter’s contribution to the Buffaloes, the Colorado program is 8-2 after ten games and qualified for a Bowl game for the first time since 2016.
Deion Sanders wants a ‘Prime Award’ in college football
Among the awards, Coach Sanders mentioned one doesn’t exist yet—it might in the future. Sanders questioned why there isn’t an award named after him because he’s undeniably one of the greatest cornerbacks of all time.
Why don’t they have me an award, Rick [CU athletic director]? Wouldn’t that be good if a player that played for me win the Prime? The best corner in college football should be called the prime.
Deion Sanders said.

This does make a lot of sense, and it would be cool for the CFP to honor the FSU legend with such a rare achievement only bestowed upon a chosen few.
Hunter may very well bag the Heisman Trophy, seeing he has the best odds (-400 as per FanDuel). The former five-star recruit wants to lay claim to the coveted trophy as the first CU player since the late Rashaan Salaam back in 1994.
You have to be the best [in the nation]. I play 130 snaps a game. There ain’t nobody out there doing 130 snaps [a game] and still putting up the right numbers. [I try not to think about it because] my main goal is to stay focused on my team. Individual awards will come.
Travis Hunter said.
Deion Sanders is currently busy preparing the Buffaloes to play against the Kansas State Jayhawks. The Hawks are on a late-season resurgence by winning back-to-back games against #22 Iowa State Cyclones, followed by ending BYU’s unbeaten start to the campaign.
