The Colorado Buffaloes head coach and former Dallas Cowboys and Atlanta Falcons cornerback Deion Sanders announced that his health conditions have deteriorated. In mid-July, Sanders had his bladder removed following a cancer diagnosis.
During the Colorado Buffaloes’ game against the TCU Horned Frogs on Saturday, Deion Sanders was seen in visible discomfort on the sideline. He had removed the shoe from his left foot, seemingly to ease the pain.
Later, Sanders revealed that he thinks he has blood clots. His self-diagnosis stemmed from his overall health worsening, and he admitted to being really in pain. He has previously had issues with blood clots, leading to him amputating two of his toes on his left foot. Sanders said, post-game:
Cat’s out of the bag, all right. I think I’ve got more blood clots. It don’t make sense. I’m hurting like crazy. … I’m not getting blood to my leg. That’s why my leg is throbbing.

He also admitted that he will be seeing a doctor by Monday to understand why his leg was feeling off throughout the game. He was unable to stand on the sidelines without wincing. When asked about it by a reporter, Sanders downplayed the issue, saying he didn’t want the attention to shift toward his health.
Sorry to get that out, but thank you for noticing.

The Colorado Buffaloes are 2-4 in the third year of Deion Sanders
The Colorado Buffaloes are down bad this season with just two wins and four losses, including the heartbreaking one against the Horned Frogs. They are second from last in the Big 12 conference, only ahead of West Virginia, which is also in the same boat in terms of record after six games.

The Buffaloes started their season with a home loss against Georgia Tech and followed it with a win over the Delaware Fighting Hens at their home. However, their miseries once again kicked up with a loss against the Houston Cougars in their first road as well as conference game of the season. In Week 4, the Buffs picked up one more win before losing consecutive games to the ranked BYU Cougars and Horned Frogs, both conference opponents.
The Buffs have been facing some quarterback inconsistency with looming question marks over Kaidon Salter and Ryan Staub. While Salter has comparably higher production than Staub, he has still thrown four interceptions. Salter’s turnovers were costly in their last game, when they fumbled a 14-0 advantage and lost the game 35-21.
Their struggles aren’t limited to Salter either. While Salter’s three first-half interceptions and erratic play drew attention, the Buffs’ broader issues lie in poor coordination, coaching inconsistencies, and a faltering defense. Offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur’s predictable play-calling has repeatedly stalled momentum. The secondary, which was once a promising unit, continued to give up big plays in critical moments.
Even bright spots, like Omarion Miller’s acrobatic touchdown, have come with caveats. The team has some interesting matchups coming their way, starting with the Iowa State Cyclones, followed by a game against a 4-1 Utah Utes. The remaining schedule has only one weak opponent, the West Virginia Mountaineers.
The latest revelation from Sanders is yet another turbulence in the already weakening team. From being the alma mater of a Heisman winner, the Buffs are grappling this year.
