Contrary to Deion Sanders’ previous claim of wanting to stay with the Colorado Buffaloes and not pursue an NFL head coach position, reports indicate that he is indeed interested in coaching a team where his son, Shedeur Sanders, is likely to land in the 2025 NFL Draft.

An insider told Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal that Coach Prime is “very interested” in the vacant head coach position with the Las Vegas Raiders. In fact, Sanders’ NFL-connected associates approached the franchise directly to express their interest since they are in the market looking for a new head coach.

The Raiders gave up on Antonio Pierce after he concluded his debut season with them at an embarrassing 4-13 season. To fill the head coach vacancy, they conducted interviews with Ben Johnson, Steve Spagnuolo, and Aaron Glenn on Friday. Additionally, they are scheduled to meet up with Pete Carroll and Robert Saleh next week.

It remains to be seen whether the Raiders are interested in Coach Prime after his impressive turnaround season in college football. However, whatever their decision would be on the matter, the legendary Tom Brady would have a significant say since becoming a minority owner of the Raiders last year.

Shedeur Sanders’ draft prospects influence Deion Sanders’ NFL aspirations

Previously, when Sanders addressed the speculations about a potential return to the league, he emphazised only one scenario in which he would consider leaving the Buffaloes: his sons. He stated that he may be open to coaching the team where his son, particularly senior quarterback Shedeur gets drafted next season.

The only way I would consider [it] is to coach my sons.

However, the likelihood of that happening appears distant, given that the Raiders are projected to get a No. 6 pick in the upcoming draft after finishing the season at 4-13. By the time they get the chance to reach Shedeur, he might not be available as the quarterback is projected to be acquired in the top five picks of the 2025 Draft– if not the first overall.

The Colorado senior quarterback is in the prime position to get drafted among the top picks of the 2025 draft, with the New York Giants projected to hold the No. 3 pick following a disappointing 3-14 season.
