Deion Sanders Rebukes Reports Claiming Shedeur Sanders was “Unprepared” for Giants Pre-Draft Visit
Deion Sanders refused to believe that his son Shedeur, who has had media training since he was a kid, would behave badly with NFL executives.

Shedeur Sanders is earning ample praise at the Cleveland Browns OTAs, but not so long ago, he faced massive criticism from all corners because of how he approached the draft. Reports even suggested that some NFL teams didn’t appreciate his attitude when he dropped by their facility for a pre-draft visit. The New York Giants were one of them.
Sanders’ father, NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, refused to believe any of the claims. While appearing on Asante Samuel’s Say What Needs To Be Said podcast, the Super Bowl-winning defensive back called out the Giants.
[Shedeur] went into a meeting unprepared, like, dude, [he is] Shedeur Sanders? Who has had six different (offensive) coordinators, who has still functioned and leveled up every time we brought somebody new in, and you’re gonna tell me he was unprepared?

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero was the first to break the news about Shedeur Sanders’ bad pre-draft visits. This was surprising because the Giants were among the favorites to draft the former Colorado quarterback.
However, the NFC East side bypassed Sanders and drafted Ole Miss’s Jaxson Dart.
Later, the Ringer’s Todd McShay disclosed Sanders flunking a task from Giants’ head coach Brian Daboll during the visit. Daboll purposefully added wrong information. He reportedly wanted to test the quarterback’s ability to locate the mistakes.
Witnesses claimed that Sanders was ‘pissed’ by the test. They also revealed that Sanders wore headphones throughout the assessment, which didn’t leave a good impression either.
Coach Prime refused to believe the claims.
You’re gonna tell me [Shedeur] had headphones on? Anybody who knows my son understands he’s a professional. He’s gonna go into a meeting with headphones on? Y’all, come on now.

Shedeur Sanders is a big hit at Browns camp
The fiasco involving Sanders and the Giants is all in the past now. Sanders’ current goal is securing the starting quarterback spot at the Browns.

The Browns rescued Sanders from sliding down further. He became their fifth-round pick and is now busy competing with other quarterbacks, including Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel.
Reports from the first month of the Browns’ camp varied, but the theme was the same: Sanders wowed everyone with his control and precise passing. The Browns’ longtime color analyst, Nathan Zegura, on Maggie and Pearloff, gave a firsthand account of how Sanders combined rookie camp and OTA performance.
Shedeur [Sanders’s] looked good… His ball placement is elite [and] his ability to layer throws is elite. I think he’s got plenty of arm strength; we’ve seen that on display, certainly in camp at times. There is something about Shedeur. I got a chance to interview him. [He is] very confident, but not in a cocky way. Has a lot of belief in himself. I like him. I like the kid a lot.

Sanders even impressed head coach Kevin Stefanski, whose job will be on the line if he fails to improve on last year’s 3-14 record. According to FBSchedules, the Browns will face the Panthers, Eagles, and Rams in their three preseason games and kick off their 2025-26 NFL season at home against AFC North rivals the Cincinnati Bengals on September 7.
