As the Super Bowl approaches, anticipation for the NFL Draft is steadily building, and one of the most talked-about prospects is Shedeur Sanders. The Colorado quarterback has already sparked heated discussions, largely due to his talent and the outspoken nature of his father, NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders.

Deion “Prime” Sanders has made headlines with bold statements about Shedeur’s draft positioning. During a recent appearance on The Dan Patrick Show, the former NFL star revealed that there are several teams he would prefer his son not to play for.

Without naming specific franchises, Deion made it clear that he has insights into the league that inform his stance. He expressed that he’s a father with resources and knowledge about the league and he will do his best to drive his son into the right direction.

There’s a lot of teams I preferred he didn’t play for. That’s like saying, ‘Aren’t there teams you don’t want to watch?’ That you hit the clicker. You darn skippy! You right. There’s teams I didn’t want to play for. So why would I want my kids…come on, man, I’m a dad. I’m a real dad that has a lot of information about the NFL. I know some folks who know some folks…who know some folks, in the NFL. And I know what’s behind the curtain. So definitely I’m going to lead them in the right direction.

The comments came just a day after both Deion and Shedeur dismissed the idea of the quarterback falling as low as the No. 9 pick to the New Orleans Saints.

Rather than publicly calling out franchises, Deion stated that he would handle the matter privately, engaging in discussions behind closed doors. Coach Prime, determined to steer Shedeur’s career in a favorable direction, is also aware of the importance of maintaining relationships within the NFL.

As the draft process unfolds, Shedeur Sanders will remain a polarizing figure. With his talent on the field and his father’s influence off it, the journey to the draft is sure to be compelling.

Shedeur Sanders want the right fit, not the first spot

Shedeur Sanders is projected to be one of the top picks in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, but he isn’t stressing over it.

When asked by ESPN’s Kevin Clark if he would hold a grudge for not being selected first overall, Sanders quickly dismissed the idea.

Why would I be mad? These are good problems to have. You could be in a way worse situation. Being No. 1 doesn’t really matter to me. It’s all about fit. The numbers of it, I’m not caught up on that. I’m thankful that the other prospects that I believe are going one, two and three, we’re all cool. That’s the best thing about it.

Sanders is widely projected to be one of the top two quarterbacks selected in the draft, alongside Miami’s Cam Ward. Meanwhile, his Colorado teammate, CB/WR Travis Hunter, and Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter are also strong contenders for the No. 1 overall pick.

With the Titans, Browns, and Giants holding the top three selections, all three teams have pressing roster needs—most notably at quarterback—making the early draft landscape particularly intriguing.
