“You talking to me bum a**!” DeMarcus Cousins gets HEATED during game in Taiwan with Jaylen Johnson
Boogie Cousins made it clear with his game that he is not to be messed with.
DeMarcus Cousins and Jaylen Johnson
DeMarcus Cousins, the four-time All-Star, has been playing overseas for almost a year. Cousins last played for the Denver Nuggets, signing three ten-day contracts before the team eventually signed him for a season. However, right before the 2023 postseason began, Cousins decided to join a Puerto Rican team Mets de Guaynabo, missing out on the championship run.
Since then, the big man has been playing in international professional leagues. Cousins is currently playing for the Taiwan Beer Leopards in the Taiwanese basketball league, T1. Recently, Cousins was called out by yet another player from the States, Jaylen Johnson, who was playing against ‘Boogie’ in T1.
Johnson, who went undrafted in 2017, did not have much luck in the US, following which the 6-foot-9, former Cardinal, joined the T1 league, signing with the Taipei Taishin Mars.
Stop playing with your head. You can't do that no where in the world... You talking to me bum a** n****, f*** you!said DeMarcus Cousins, yelling at Jaylen Johnson
Considering Johnson’s history, the big man did not receive as much recognition as Boogie. The undrafted former Cardinal tried to challenge Cousins mentally, but facing off against a top-five player in the T1 league, Jaylen Johnson may have reconsidered before speaking out.
DeMarcus Cousins dominated over Johnson’s team in back-to-back games
The Beer Leopards faced the Taishin Mars in back-to-back games, as Cousins dominated in both of them. On April 20th, the Beer Leopards beat the Taishin Mars, 101-96, with Boogie finishing the game with 25 points and 8 rebounds. The following day, the two teams faced off again when Johnson trash-talked Cousins.
Despite the loss (79-91), DeMarcus Cousins dropped 21 points, 20 rebounds, and 5 assists. In most of the areas, Cousins is ranked top five in the T1 league. While Cousins made it clear that he won’t be returning to the NBA ever, the big man is having a great time playing overseas. Following his Achilles injury that he suffered when he played for the New Orleans Pelicans, his game was never the same.
Cousins was a dominant player in the paint, being a nightmare for his defenders. However, the series of injuries that he went on to suffer indicated his time in the league was indeed over. Still, the big man played for multiple teams, contributing the best he could, but not as efficiently as he used to.
