Even though LeBron James has had many rivals over the years, his skirmishes with Dillon Brooks in the past few years have captivated basketball fans.
Many feel the Phoenix Suns star has displayed sheer audacity to go up against one of the greatest players of all time. They believe the Canadian does not even have the tools necessary to go after James.
That used to end with the Lakers superstar having the last laugh on every occasion. However, that trend has changed this campaign as the 29-year-old has proved he has improved as a player. Brooks is no longer just a defensive menace who can occasionally shoot down a triple. Instead, on the Suns, he has taken on a much larger role offensively.
Head coach Jordan Ott trusts him enough to take big shots, which have gone a long way to helping the team rise to seventh in the hotly contested Western Conference.
In a heartbeat. He’s a culture changer. He’s a proven winner… We talk about all the glaring holes when it comes with this Lakers team, he fits exactly what they need right now… Why wouldn’t you do it?
DeMarcus Cousins said on Run it Back
Boogie Cousins would trade Austin Reaves for Dillon Brooks "in a heartbeat" 🤯

The former four-time All-Star believes Dillon Brooks will solve the most glaring problem facing the Los Angeles Lakers. When co-panelist Chandler Parsons asked if LeBron James would be fine with this deal, DeMarcus Cousins claimed he would.
Fans flame DeMarcus Cousins for Dillon Brooks Lakers trade idea
Even though there is evidence of LeBron James teaming up with players who have been a thorn in his side, Lakers fans were shaking their heads at the idea of the team swapping Austin Reaves for Dillon Brooks.
They believe Reaves is a much more important piece for their franchise than Brooks can ever be. Fans felt Cousins was trolling both franchises with this trade proposal. Check out examples of those reactions below:
Hard pass.

Thats a crazy take. Austin is younger and Brooks has his best season ever. Doubt he will repeat it.

Dillon Brooks did indeed elevate both the Memphis Grizzlies and the Houston Rockets before he came to the Phoenix Suns. Now, with his third team, he is doing a much better job of pushing them into a playoff position.
Suns owner not interested in Dillon Brooks trade rumors
With all these trade rumors surrounding Dillon Brooks becoming media fodder, it soon came to the attention of Phoenix Suns owner Mat Ishbia.

Don’t bother calling… Suns aren’t interested. Dillon’s not going anywhere.
Mat Ishbia wrote on X
The billionaire was quick to shoot down any conversation about one of his most indispensable players. After all, this is the first time there is a semblance of competitiveness in the organization after their failed super team attempts to set the franchise back.

Ishbia’s response may also be an indication of what he thinks about Austin Reaves. Maybe the market is not as high as many thought it would be for the undrafted guard.
