Canadian tennis player Denis Shapovalov has expressed awe of Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic, who have made quick recoveries to get fit for the 2024 Wimbledon Championships. Despite closing in on their 40s, Murray and Djokovic continue to set an example for the younger generations.
Both players were down and out with serious injuries before the start of Wimbledon, with not many expecting them to take part in the competition. However, they have worked hard on their fitness to endure their participation in the Championships.
While Murray has decided to play only in the doubles, Djokovic has expressed his desire to fight for the title in the singles. Shapovalov has stated that he draws inspiration from their commitment to the sport despite achieving so much already.
Huge credit to them for doing what they’re doing. To even try and give it an effort, it’s insane! Especially on top of what they’ve already achieved. I understand if it’s a young guy who doesn’t really know and thinks ‘this is my chance, this is my moment’. But these guys have done it all. So for them to come back and try to play is inspiring for everyone here.Denis Shapovalov said in a post-match press conference (H/T: Tennisuptodate)
