Dennis Schroder and Stephen Curry

The Golden State Warriors have begun their trade season for the ongoing 2024–25 NBA campaign. The Warriors’ bench squad has been severely weakened by injury, so they have looked to increase the depth at point guard position. And they have reportedly struck a massive deal for the same.

According to ESPN reporter Shams Charania, the Warriors have acquired German star Dennis Schroder from the Brooklyn Nets. Schroder, a 12-year veteran, will contribute to the Warriors’ bench in terms of distribution and scoring.

Schroder, a very talented slasher, is scoring 18.4 points per game on average this season on 45.2 percent field goals and 50.9 percent three-pointers. Additionally, his three-point shooting percentage is 38.7 percent. Charania shed light on the Warriors’ plan for Schroder on social media.

The Warriors envision starting lineups with Dennis Schroder and Stephen Curry in the backcourt, with Schroder able to alleviate ball-handling responsibilities at point guard. Golden State made him a priority to complete this deal.

Schroder will be most helpful to the Warriors in one area: ball movement. Aside from superstar Stephen Curry, the Warriors lost their crucial backup point guard when De’Anthony Melton suffered a partly torn ACL on November 12 and is set to miss the entire season.

It’s important to note that, the Nets will receive Melton in return for Schroder. Melton was scoring 10.3 points and dishing out 2.8 assists per game while shooting 37.1 percent from beyond the arc for the Warriors.

A Dubs team that needs an orchestrator to lead their second unit will benefit immensely from the 31-year-old’s 6.6 assists per night. The Warriors are currently (14-10) in the NBA and sit in 5th place in the West.

Fans left ecstatic after Warriors complete trade move for Dennis Schroder

The Golden State Warriors lacked a star performer in attack aside from Stephen Curry. Since Klay Thompson‘s departure to the Dallas Mavericks, the Dubs have lacked a strong presence on the court, until now.

To address it, the Warriors recently secured a jaw-dropping trade deal, acquiring Dennis Schroder from the Brooklyn Nets. This sent the DubNation wild on social media. Many fans took to social media to express their views regarding the trade deal.

Schroder’s arrival undoubtedly allows the Warriors some leeway in their backcourt lineups. In addition to relieving some of Stephen Curry’s playmaking and ball-handling responsibilities, he provides the Warriors with another shooter who can successfully and efficiently get his shot.
