Kevin Durant and Dennis Schroder have found themselves in the middle of conflicting opinions
Germany star Dennis Schroder has responded to comments made by Kevin Durant after Team USA won the gold medal. During the Paris Olympics, the men’s basketball competition provided some of the toughest contests of any sport, particularly with the USA suffering a scare or two at the hands of European teams.
This led to Schroder saying that European basketball is straight IQ, and it has bridged the gap between the NBA. However, that assertion didn’t sit well with Durant, who took a subtle dig at the Brooklyn Nets player after their win against France. Schroder has responded to KD’s comments during a recent Twitch stream.
And then day 1, and Kevin Durant tweeted 'IQ and Entertainment'. For me, that's just being weak. Like you are that type of a star and you have to say something to a person like me, like who not even meant it to be negative. It was just what I've seen from both sides, so I didn't appreciate it".Dennis Schroder said
As stated by Dennis Schroder, he did not expect Durant to clap back at him for those statements during the Olympics. He pointed out that they were just his perspectives on basketball, having played on both sides. The Brookyn Nets star previously played for SG Braunschweig and Phantoms Braunschweig in Germany, before coming to the NBA.
Furthermore, the 30-year-old asserted that Kevin Durant dissing him was rather unprofessional, which he did not appreciate it at all. And given that he meant no negativity in speaking about his experience, the German views the response from Durant as ‘weak’. It appears Schroder does have a point there, as during the 2024 Olympics, the USA faced fierce competition from European opponents notably in the semifinal and finals.
Kevin Durant becomes top scorer for USA after record-breaking Olympics campaign
During the Olympic Games, Kevin Durant came through for Team USA in various games of their campaign. And while he was at it, some records were broken in the process. One of those same in the game against Brazil, where Durant became the all-time leading scorer for his country in both men’s and women’s basketball. In that game, the Phoenix Suns star recorded 11 points and four rebounds, leading the USA to win with a final scoreline of 122-87.
Indeed, it was a game that saw him finally ascend to the top of the leaderboard with 494 points overall. With that tally, the 35-year-old saw to it that the initial record-holder, WNBA star Lisa Leslie, was pushed down to second place.
Records are meant to be broken, so somebody will come along and do the same. I’m focused on trying to win this gold.Kevin Durant said in response to breaking Leslie’s record
The NBA star also holds the record for the most number of gold medals in Olympics basketball, with four to his name. And once again, Durant showcased his dominance as one of the best players of his generation.
