There are quite a few trash talkers in the league, with a certain Luka Doncic establishing himself as one of the best. Sometimes, his words can get over the top, just like when he clashed with Dennis Schroder.

The Sacramento Kings star took offense to something the Slovenian said and needed intervention from some of their teammates to stop it from blowing up during their game on December 28th.

When everyone thought the incident was done and dusted, ESPN’s Shams Charania revealed that the NBA was suspending Schroder for three games.

Apparently, he tried to strike a Lakers player 40 minutes after the game. Seeing this news hit social media, the German star decided to react to this news.

He mocked the word ‘attempting’ used in Charania’s post with two emoticons, one depicting eyes, and the other a laughing one, suggesting he was in stitches with the choice of words.

The Insider’s post, however, did not reveal which player he tried to attack, but it became evident that the player was none other than Doncic.

For someone who earns $14 million a season, he will lose nearly $300,000 due to this suspension. So far, there has been no news of him trying to appeal the league’s decision, which could indicate that Schroder knows the situation is out of his hands.

Luka Doncic teased Dennis Schroder about his career earnings

Dennis Schroder is an uber-competitive player. That tenacity is what led him to become the FIBA World Cup 2023 MVP as well as the recent EuroBasket MVP, as he led his adopted nation to the championship.

In both instances, he ensured his teammates followed his lead, which saw them confirm their position as the best team in Europe. However, his Sacramento Kings teammates were not on the same page.

That could be because of how the 32-year-old retaliated towards Luka Doncic during that game. It seems the Lakers star had pushed the wrong buttons.

Shoulda signed that contract, baby.

Luka Doncic told Schroder

This was the 26-year-old’s words as captured by a fan. It seems this triggered the German, as Schroder went after Doncic with a clapback, but the 6′ 7″ guard had a lot more to say to his opponent.

This, along with many other back-and-forths, probably ended up pushing Schroder over the top. Otherwise, it is rare for players to continue holding a grudge off the court enough to want to strike him.

The last time one such incident took place, the supposed target ended up seeking law enforcement help. Thankfully, for Schroder, Doncic did not bother, as his bodyguards were there to protect him.

JJ Redick avoided questions on Dennis Schroder’s suspension

Even though many are aware that it was Luka Doncic who supposedly became Dennis Schroder‘s target, there are not many who have a complete idea about what truly went down in the tunnel.

It’s a league matter, so I don’t really have a comment on it to be honest with you. They made the decision, it’s up to them.

JJ Redick told reporters

This was the Los Angeles Lakers head coach’s response when asked if he had any comment about the suspension and the supposed altercation. Hearing this, another reporter asked him if he was not aware of what happened.

To this, the former perimeter shooter reiterated that there are a few things he does not know about, especially when it is at the Crypto.com Arena.

With the Los Angeles Lakers traveling to Sacramento to play the Kings next, NBA fans can be assured Schroder will not be there to resume his battle with Luka Doncic.
