Joe Gibbs Racing’s Denny Hamlin is the only driver that is deeply involved in all aspects of NASCAR. He is veteran racer with JGR, a team owner at 23XI Racing and is a media personal with his Action Detrimental podcast. This gives him the opportunity to be knowledgeable about most things around the sport and be a credible source to share concerns over certain instants.
One of the big discussion Denny Hamlin has vocal part of is the charter agreement. In his recent appearance in the Kenny Conversation YouTube show hosted by ex-racer Kenny Wallace, he asserted that the negotiations are not on the right track. During this discussion he highlighted one demand from the team NASCAR is avoiding and also revealed the true cost of fielding a car in the championship.

He revealed that teams are asking to share the sponsorship revenue with them to better cover their expenses every race week. The demand is made because of the fact that it cost teams over $18 million to field cars in the series. But according to Hamlin, NASCAR has remained cold to the proposal.
It’s like but we need them the most because of our business model. It cost us $18 million a year to put a car on the racetrack, we’ve asked NASCAR to just cover our costs. Nothing more, just cover our costs to go put on this show for you. And the answer has been repeatedly no. You will get what we give you and you will like it. And so, if you don’t, then don’t be a part of this.Denny Hamlin said via Kenny Conversations.
Denny Hamlin wants NASCAR to follow NFL model
In the same discussion earlier, Denny Hamlin discussed how the sponsorship should be shared. He urged NASCAR to follow the lead of leagues such as NFL and NBA. Hamlin asserted that teams deserve a share of NASCAR’s sponsorship revenue because they work hard to put on a show every week.

Same as with the NBA, the NFL, MLB does. When they go get a league sponsor, every team gets a little piece of that and then the league gets a portion as well. It’s not like [in NASCAR]. We compete for the same sponsors that NASCAR does.Denny Hamlin said.
The points made by Hamlin holds ground as the teams needs to get more return on their investment to succeed in the future. If it doesn’t happen things would only go bad from worse to the sport regarding the financial struggles.
