Joe Gibbs Racing veteran Denny Hamlin became a NASCAR team owner after he joined hands with NBA legend Michael Jordan to form 23XI Racing. Since the 2021 season the team has been influencing some major changes to the sport and their latest anti-trust lawsuit on NASCAR over new charter deals has the potential to change the sport forever.
Despite being the majority owner of the team, Michael Jordan doesn’t involve himself too much in the sport. This is because he is paranoid about getting himself too in-depth with the team, according to Denny Hamlin. The limited but valuable involvement of the basketball legend is one of the major parts that makes working at 23XI great for the crew.
The JGR veteran went onto point out that, unlike what many thinks, Jordan isn’t controlling of the team’s management. He trusts his three times Daytona 500 winning co-owner to run is smoothly and always supports his decisions.

But having Jordan putting in a lot of trust in Hamlin, places the JGR veteran in a tough spot. He has to deliver on all the promises he makes withy the investment as he is representing one of the biggest brands in the sporting world. Living up to the winning mentality of Jordan is a tough task for anyone, including Hamlin.
The comments suggest that there is an impressive ownership dynamic between Hamlin and Jordan. This factor might have been one of the biggest reasons behind the success of the team over the last few seasons and they will be hoping to continue it.
