The 2024 NASCAR Cup season is vital for the sanctioning body and the team, as they have to finalize a new charter agreement. The current deal will end at the end of this season. Despite the time running out NASCAR and the teams, the new agreement and profit-sharing deal is in the limbo over difference in latest proposals.
Recently NASCAR senior VP Elton Sawyer claimed that they are closing in on signing the new deal. But his claims were instantly refuted by tea owners including the likes of Denny Hamlin of 23XI Racing. Now ahead of the Talladega Cup race, the veteran driver has also revealed the reasons for the delay in the new charter agreement.

He pointed out that NASCAR hasn’t addressed the four key elements of the charter agreement despite the decision being going on for a long-time. Hamlin claimed that sanctioning body hasn’t conceded or addressed any of the demands made by the teams and said that the claims about the deal getting close is just positive messaging.
I have not, no I mean there's still the four key elements that I haven't seen NASCAR brought up and what our ask has been they haven't addressed those or haven't conceded to any of those. I think that it's positive messaging more than it's actually real.Denny Hamlin said via Frontstretch.
Denny Hamlin is concerned about a latest trend in NASCAR
The Joe Gibbs Racing driver in the same interview also addressed the new trend of removing the scoring pylons. He pointed out that it is really concerning that tracks including Talladega is taking the pylons out and added that he wishes it doesn’t become a new trend.

But every track has its own ideas and we’ve seen it over time. It started with Bristol taking some out, then it was Watkins Glen I noticed, obviously last week, and now this week. So, hopefully, it’s not a trend.Denny Hamlin said.
The JGR driver has always been very vocal about the changes NASCAR and making and since he became a team owner, his opinion has often resonated with most of the fans. NASCAR should take some pointers from the suggestions.
