The NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Martinsville witnessed some wild moments, and the biggest one of them was the post-race drama caused by Sam Mayer. Joe Gibbs Racing veteran Denny Hamlin seems disappointed with the drama and he called out the Hass Factory Team driver on his Actions Detrimental podcast.
After the race, in retaliation to incidents that happened during the event, Sam Mayer spun Jeb Burton, making a wild move no-one expected. Fortunately, both the drivers were not injured. According to Denny Hamlin, wrecking someone after the race, regardless of the reason cannot be justified.

Sam Mayer after the race, I don’t know what he was doing. That was a bad call, and I don’t know if he’s racing this weekend. I wish I had a good answer for you. Wrecking someone after the caution into the wall, no, probably not.
Denny Hamlin said via Actions Detrimental.
The veteran pointed out that he is okay with drivers having going at each other on tracks, as the back and forth they will have until the checkered flag can often be justified. But what Mayer did was not acceptable, and his post-race comments on the incidents is only going to hurt his case. So, considering all these situations, Hamlin feels Mayer will be sitting at home watching the Xfinity Series finale and NASCAR most probably will suspend him.
I didn’t have any issues with the back-and-forth on track until the checkered flag. And then in his interview, it just didn’t help. I’m not gonna pile on because I think he’s gonna have a bad week. It just didn’t help… I think he’s watching Phoenix.
Denny Hamlin added.
Jeb Burton and Sam Mayer’s back forth didn’t impress Denny Hamlin as well as the fans
On their post-race interview, both Jeb Burton and Sam Mayer took shots at each other that left everyone unimpressed. Burton slammed that latter for acting like a child and causing problem considering he has always raced him clean.

I think Sam was mad that last week he got taken out in an accident at Talladega and he was acting like a child like Sam is. We’re on old tires at the end of Stage 1, I believe. And he shipped me out of the way, I think we all saw that, I was on the front row, for no reason. I’ve always raced Sam really clean, never had a problem with him.

“He’s a punk and everyone knows it.”
Jeb was hoping to get to Sam post-race but was stopped at the opposite end of pit road.

Mayer on the other hand doesn’t think he was often raced fairly by Burton and branded his move as a wake-up call to a driver that he doesn’t think have what it takes to be good racer in him. But he does regret that fact that he wrecked the car of Jordan Anderson.
I honestly hate it for Jordan. Jordan is one of the coolest guys in the garage, he’s worked his tail off to get to this point. Definitely regret wrecking one of his race cars after competition is over. But Jeb needs a wake-up call, that brother, he does not have the it factor, he has the different factor.
Sam Mayer said.
Both Burton and Mayer are drivers thar have failed over the years to deliver great performances despite getting more financial support and faster cars than most of the grid. So, the digs took at each other can also be applied to themselves and it’s something the duo needs to realize.
