The NASCAR community is in spilt over the legal drama surrounding the charter wars. The two teams, 23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports, who refused to sign the charter deals for 2025-2031 season has now sued NASCAR for monopoly. The federal anti-trust lawsuit is filed with the objective of getting teams a better deal.
In the recent episode of his Podcast Denny Hamlin, the co-owner of 23XI Racing with Michael Jordan, has extensively explained the reasons behind the legal actions. He pointed out that his team is finally taking the stand as they no longer can remain victims and let NASCAR take away all their rights.
He is also doing this for his kids, as he wants them to have an asset in the NASCAR charter that would benefit them in the future and will help them to carry his legacy. The current charters not being such an opportunity has been stopping the likes of Dale Earnhardt Jr. to invest in the sport, though he really wanted to.
Denny Hamlin claims NASCAR hasn’t yet shown an avenue to get his investment back
One of the biggest issue Denny Hamlin has with NASCAR is the fact that they haven’t yet shown him a way via which he can make the money he invested in the sport back. There is a lack of returns to the investments that makes the sport undesirable for many and Hamin wants to change it for the better.
The personal goals Denny Hamlin has behind the lawsuit is justified and is something many other potential investors concerned about as well. It will be interesting to see if the veteran will be able to get to these goals with the lawsuit.
