23XI Racing and Front Motorsport has taken the charter wars with NASCAR to the next-level as they have filed a federal anti-trust lawsuit against CEO Jim France and the series owners, France family. They claim NASCAR is operating like a monopolistic bully” and asserted that they are fighting for all the teams to have a fair charter deal.

The legal action taken by 23XI has gotten a mixed set of reaction from the NASCAR community. While some came in support, others like ex-crew chief Larry McReynolds have attacked Michael Jordan for the decision. 23XI’s co-owner Denny Hamlin has been active on social media calling out such claims, SiriusXM NASCAR channel 90 was his latest target.

The 23XI-FRM attorney, Jeffrey Kessler, had an interview with SiriusXM NASCAR to explain the lawsuit. Dave Moody and the SiriusXM crew was very pro-NASCAR in the interview and was consistently questioning Kessler. Later they allegedly even edited/deleted the interview from their platform as according to Hamlin it didn’t match their narrative. The JGR veteran slammed them for censoring.

While censorship is a big topic in today’s media world, Channel 90 might be the poster child. An interview didn’t go the way they hoped after our attorney continued to state fact after fact even tho they tried their best to refute, they have since edited/deleted that interview off of their channels because the narrative doesn’t fit their beliefs. If that doesn’t convince you of the bias then nothing will.

23XI Racing brands Next-Gen car requirements as anti-competitive

In the lawsuit filed, 23XI and FRM has some serious allegation regarding the Next-Gen cars. They pointed out that the spec cars were introduced, under the disguise of cost cutting, to make sure teams doesn’t switch to other series easily. They also revealed that team are spending $3 million a year per car to purchase just the pasts.

In reality, this change is an exclusionary requirement which locks premier stock car racing teams even further into NASCAR, makes switching to any competitive racing series even more difficult, and ultimately increases costs on racing teams. It now costs teams approximately $3 million per year in car parts to field just one charter team in a full Cup Series schedule.

23XI and FRM alleges in the lawsuit.

They also claim that NASCAR prohibits teams from using the Next-Gen cars in other series, despite the teams shelling out the money, which isn’t a great argument against the sport. There are also multiple similar allegations from the teams against NASCAR and it would be interesting to see when the saga would end.
