“Officially the weirdest series” – Denver Nuggets embarrassingly lose by 45 to Wolves after three straight wins
The second round playoff series is now tied 3-3 and will head to Denver on Sunday for Game 7.
Minnesota Timberwolves hand the Denver Nuggets an embarrassing 45-point blowout loss in Game 6
The Denver Nuggets had the momentum. They had switched on their championship-winning form and handed the Minnesota Timberwolves their first three-game losing streak of the season. All they had to do was to continue that momentum. Except, in today’s Game 6, the young contenders slammed the brakes on the defending champions.
At the start of the game, the Nuggets went on a small scoring run. But after the ensuing timeout, they could not keep up with the relentless scoring and defense of the Timberwolves. The younger squad blew the first quarter away and never looked back. Nikola Jokic tried his best.
However, what made the loss this embarrassing was that both the starters and the bench were inefficient. An after-effect of the Timberwolves returning to their Game 1 & 2 defense.
The Denver Nuggets were half as efficient from the 3-point line and could not keep up with the Big’s and their glass cleanup duties for the Minnesota Timberwolves. Correspondingly, the return of Mike Conley has helped superstar Anthony Edwards restore his team-leading scoring.
All of these factors contributed to the Nuggets suffering an embarrassing 45-point loss. Leaving fans confused as to who is the better team. More importantly, who will win the playoff series as it heads to Denver for Game 7 on Sunday.
