The Cleveland Browns are on the verge of entering the 2025 season without their starting quarterback Deshaun Watson, after he re-ruptured his Achilles and might be likely to miss the next season entirely. Amid the crisis, star Denzel Ward appears to have a solution to avoid another disastrous 3-14 season, emphasizing the critical need for a stable quarterback.
With Watson’s availability for next season now in question, discussions have intensified regarding the franchise’s next steps. Given that it happens, the total number of missed games would increase to 38 out of 51 in his three seasons in Cleveland. It seems the players are growing just as frustrated as the fans, as the struggle at the quarterback position is impacting the entire team.
In a recent discussion with TMZ, the Browns star cornerback spoke on the most crucial subject concerning the team and that’s the quarterback. Ward didn’t hold back from highlighting the desperate need for the Browns to have a solid quarterback, since Watson hasn’t proved himself quite fruitful at the position.

That said, the four-time Pro Bowler affirmed that the Browns certainly have a strong foundation, and once the quarterback position is solidified, it will not be long before they join the league’s contenders again.
Denzel Ward advocates for teammates as Browns navigate Deshaun Watson’s ongoing challenges
The starting quarterback is expected to undergo another surgery for his re-ruptured Achilles after which his availability will be confirmed. However, his teammates are urging the front office to stabilize the position– not by acquiring any player or drafting anyone as fans are requesting, but by evaluating the existing quarterbacks already on the roster.
“He’s a solid quarterback,” said Ward when asked if he would want Seattle Seahawks’ Geno Smith to join the Browns.
While discussing the quarterback position, Ward also clarified that he has no bad feelings toward Watson, expressing his confidence in his ability to recover from the injury and overcome the immense criticism from the fans before his return to the field.
