The San Francisco 49ers are still viewed as one of the Super Bowl contenders despite starting 3-4 as the NFL closes in on the half way mark. The 49ers boast a roster capable of staging miracles and comebacks, keeping fans’ trust and support amid the losing record.

The Niners are facing the Dallas Cowboys this week at their own stadium. The Cowboys are headed from a rejuvenated Week 8 fueled by intense drama post former QB Troy Aikman’s admission about his team. Furthermore, the management is embroiled in a heated debate about the inability to bring Derrick Henry in during the offseason. Meanwhile, The 49ers will look to bounce back from a humiliating home loss to the Chiefs in Week 7.

Ahead of the upcoming game, 49ers defensive back Deommodore Lenoir addressed questions about taking on Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and the Cowboys’ offense. When Prescott’s impressive $60 million annual salary was brought up, Lenoir took the opportunity to heap praise on his own quarterback, Brock Purdy.

According to David Lombardi of The San Francisco Standard, Lenoir remarked that he faces a “$60 million quarterback” every week in practice. The admission proves that the team is strong behind the quarterback despite a dismal performance last week. Lenoir also hinted that Purdy may well be deserving of a substantial raise when his rookie contract eventually wraps up.

That’s a big contract. I love that for him. But I practice against a $60 million quarterback, too… He just hasn’t been paid yet.

The San Francisco 49ers picked up Brock Purdy in 2022 as the last pick of the draft. He came into the field against the Miami Dolphins after QB1 and QB2 sustained injuries. He became the first quarterback to win a game against Tom Brady in their first start. Since then, Purdy has led the 49ers to the postseason in 2022 and 2023.

San Francisco 49ers GM echoes trust on Brock Purdy, likens to Joe Montana

49ers general manager John Lynch recently spoke on quarterback Brock Purdy’s recent performance. Lynch reminded everyone that even the legends like Joe Montana had their share of off days. He expressed that those off days often fade from memory given their impressive achievements.

Purdy is coming off one of the most challenging performances of his professional career. In the recent 28-18 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, he struggled, throwing three interceptions and ending with a career-low passer rating of 36.7. Speaking on his Friday weekly appearance at the KNBR, Lynch expressed confidence and trust in his leading quarterback ahead of the important match.

It happened to Joe Montana. I’m sure he played bad games. That’s hard to remember because he did so many great things. But Brock’s done a lot of really good things, and we’ve got a ton of belief, and as much belief that after a bad one, he’s going to bounce back and play well… We’ve got all the belief in the world that he will. I have all the belief in the world that he will.

John Lynch said

Lynch also pointed out that Purdy’s self-confidence is an admirable quality to have. He noted that Purdy is willing to change his game and make things better. The quarterback would be put to a much tougher game against the Cowboys this week.
