Deontay Wilder provided his view on the ongoing situation surrounding his former rival, Deontay Wilder. Wilder was asked about his feelings on Fury’s ongoing retirement process and how legitimate he thinks it all is.

Wilder has recently started the promotional campaign for his upcoming fight and return to boxing against Robert Helenius. The former heavyweight champion will make his first appearance in the ring since his trilogy loss to Tyson Fury. While Wilder was incredibly unsportsmanlike in the immediate aftermath of his third loss, he came to accept it over time and after long deliberations has planned to return to the ring.

Ever since the US put a bounty on Kinahan Cartel head honcho and Tyson Fury’s business partner, Daniel Kinahan, life at the Fury Household has not been easy. The bounty itself was placed shortly before Tyson title defense against Dilian Whyte, and he was asked multiple times about the developing situation with Fury refusing to acknowledge his ties to the mobster.

Shortly after his fight with Whyte and subsequent “retirement” from boxing, Fury has been going on speaking engagements acorss the country. It was during one of these tours that Fury figured out that he was banned entry into the US and that it allegedly had to do with his and MTK Global’s ties to Kinahan.

Tommy Fury would suffer the same fate as he too would be stopped by the Department of Homeland Security at the airport, on his way to New York for the first press conference of his now canceled fight against Jake Paul.

Wilder believes that Fury is too far gone from saving. When asked about his current situation, Wilder alluded to knowing what was happening but refrained from discussing it. He said, “I think he’s gonna have to retire. He’s gonna have to. It’s a lot of stuff going on. I’m not gonna even get into it, but it’s looking like he’s gonna have to. I can’t give too much information out, I don’t really wanna discuss it.”

Fury has personally thanked Kinahan multiple times in the past, most notably in an Instagram video where he thanked the mobster for getting a deal done between him and Anthony Joshua. More importantly, he was spotted alongside the crime boss as recently as February of this year in the Emirates.
